Thanks to Toyota Australia, we had the chance to tick one of the biggest automotive shows in the world off our bucket list. Tokyo Autosalon.
How do you describe Tokyo Autosalon? In one word; HUGE. Each ‘warehouse’ has a number of halls. There are 4 ‘warehouses’ Each hall is probably the size of a football field and there are TWELVE halls all up. There’s also another ‘slightly’ smaller shed, as well as an outside area.
Whilst TAS runs for 3 days, we had 8 hours to cover the lot. We walked non stop the entire day, skipping lunch to get as much covered as possible. We still missed so much, but covered at least the 4 enormous halls.
After chatting with the team from the Gazoo Racing stand, we were off to explore the wonder and insanity that is Tokyo Autosalon.
First up we saw an Alfa Romeo x KenOkuyama Collaboration stand.
The Alfa Romeo 4C. Still not sold on these personally. Amazing performance. Lacking in looks I think.
All of the huge Japanese tuners were on hand throughout the halls.

This MKIII Supra actually had two looks. On the other side not pictured, it had drag wheels. 600hp through the engine.
The last of the straight 6 GTRs, the Nissan Skyline R34 GTR Mspec II NUR. Only 1000 NUR Spec R34s were made, 750 Vspecs and 250 Mspecs. Absolute icons.

In Japan, the level of modification is wild, and everyone gets along with it. Like the sticker says on the second picture here: “Be Different, Make your own stuff.”

There were a number of these rad little Copens decked out in different tuner liveries.
Walking through one of the halls I stopped in my tracks. In front of me was a collection of arguably the three kings of Ferrari. The F50, Enzo, and the F40. What a privilege.
The Vorsteiner stand. If you look closely you can see hopefully my future wife between the Porsche and the SLS.
Matyas ran up to me from around a corner and goes “Come around here, you’re going to lose your mind, even after seeing those Ferraris.”
He was right.
The Anija modified Pagani Zonda on Work Wheels. The thing was insane.

Which also gave us our first taste of Liberty Walk!
