Thanks to Toyota Australia, we had the chance to tick one of the biggest automotive shows in the world off our bucket list. Tokyo Autosalon.

How do you describe Tokyo Autosalon? In one word; HUGE. Each ‘warehouse’ has a number of halls. There are 4 ‘warehouses’ Each hall is probably the size of a football field and there are TWELVE halls all up. There’s also another ‘slightly’ smaller shed, as well as an outside area.

Whilst TAS runs for 3 days, we had 8 hours to cover the lot. We walked non stop the entire day, skipping lunch to get as much covered as possible. We still missed so much, but covered at least the 4 enormous halls.

After chatting with the team from the Gazoo Racing stand, we were off to explore the wonder and insanity that is Tokyo Autosalon.

First up we saw an Alfa Romeo x KenOkuyama Collaboration stand.

The Alfa Romeo 4C. Still not sold on these personally. Amazing performance. Lacking in looks I think.

All of the huge Japanese tuners were on hand throughout the halls.

Top Secret.

Jun.

SO many cars in Japan are on bags. Like this civic from C Plus

Was awesome to see this legend again after WTAC. The Top Fuel S2000

This MKIII Supra actually had two looks. On the other side not pictured, it had drag wheels. 600hp through the engine.

The last of the straight 6 GTRs, the Nissan Skyline R34 GTR Mspec II NUR. Only 1000 NUR Spec R34s were made, 750 Vspecs and 250 Mspecs. Absolute icons.

Mafia Spec.

Some Evo love through G-force.

Was in LOVE with this!

Nearly every stand had an R35 GTR or an 86 on it. You can see our full 86 special linked at the top of this page.

Where’s the TONKA TRUCK sticker?!

This V10 R8 was PERFECT.

Good to see some tough S chassis still represented.

Part stalls everywhere.

Had a hard time wrapping my mind around how awesome this Rocket Bunny FD looked.

As did others.

Bags…

Bags…

MORE BAGS!

R31 house had some INCREDIBLE pieces sitting pretty.

Unsure where to begin here.

In Japan, the level of modification is wild, and everyone gets along with it. Like the sticker says on the second picture here: “Be Different, Make your own stuff.”

Check out the cooler placement.

Flares on this TT were pretty out there.

Mad Mike’s Twin Turbo 26b creation.

GT cars were also scattered throughout the halls.

Here you can see the size of the halls.

Remember that one time how I said there were one or two bag setups?

The 2014 Nurburgring LFA entry from GAZOO Racing.

There is no limit on what different tastes can achieve in Japan. Look at that WING MIRROR!

Accessories!

There were a number of these rad little Copens decked out in different tuner liveries.

Walking through one of the halls I stopped in my tracks. In front of me was a collection of arguably the three kings of Ferrari. The F50, Enzo, and the F40. What a privilege.

The Vorsteiner stand. If you look closely you can see hopefully my future wife between the Porsche and the SLS.

Matyas ran up to me from around a corner and goes “Come around here, you’re going to lose your mind, even after seeing those Ferraris.”

He was right.

The Anija modified Pagani Zonda on Work Wheels. The thing was insane.

Forgiatto Wheels stand.

Which also gave us our first taste of Liberty Walk!

John Lennon ladies and gentlemen.

People aren’t afraid to spend money here.

The infamous Liberty Walk Challenger.

I didn’t realise Liberty Walk had so many cars, and I imagine there are many more out there on the streets!

The kid car replicas were SICK! I want one.

Where do I even begin here?

The WORK Wheels stand.

The Lexus RC-F GT car. You could put the headphones on and listen to the symphony of the engine. POOOOORN.

This could definitely get me more interested in Subaru.

This was pretty nice! I like it!

The gates opened to the general public.

The GT-300 Lotus Evora was unveiled on the day.

Everyone give Honda a slow clap. This car is just incredible.

There were all manner of beauties at TAS. You can see our special ‘girls of autosalon’ at the top of the page.

The ‘fitment craze’ has certainly been pushed to its limits.

Casual F1 car.

Right next to the new NSX-GT Concept.

Vantage on wheels.

Hako x 2000GT X Rocky Auto

Rowen Japan.

Nismo.

BMW i8 on Advan Wheels.

Mazda Skyactiv lemans car

RE Amemiya.

I was taking a pic of yet another 2000GT when behind it, the crowd cleared.

When I figuratively, and nearly literally lost my shit. A Lamborghini Miura.

However, sadly (but still cool) it turned out to be a replica. Engine is in the wrong spot :(

Walking back over the bridge between halls, Top Secret gold coloured R35.

Massive thank you to Toyota Australia for giving us the opportunity to see all of the epicness that was Tokyo Autosalon. Absolute insanity and nothing but ‘cool’.

Here is the Gazoo Racing LFA again with its pants down.
