Star Wars: Battlefront 2 has been announced with a release date of November 17, 2017 on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The announcement was made by EA at Star Wars Celebration 2017 in Orange County, CA, marking 40 years since the release of A New Hope.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will improve upon the first game by adding several new features, balance changes, and a single player campaign. The game’s campaign will follow Commander Iden Versio, leader of Inferno Squad Elite Forces and the events following the destruction of the second Death Star. Iden will embark on a quest of revenge, betrayal, and redemption that fills in the 330-yeargap between Return of the Jedi and Force Awakens.

The game will support 40 player online multiplayer matches across iconic battlefields like Yavin, Starkiller Base, and Mos Eisley. New features include a brand new progression system with class-based upgrades. You can play as an Officer, Assault, Heavy and Specialist class and unlock new weapons, hero upgrades, and modifications. Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will have new heroes from across its legacy of movies like Yoda, Darth Mual, and Kylo Ren.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will have 24 player space battles, a game mode that players have been clamoring for. The Xbox One version will have offline split-screen with unlockable upgrades for its online multiplayer. Get special access to the game early if you pre-order:

Play First Trial available on November 9 for EA Access on Xbox One.

The Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition will allow access to the game on November 14.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will not offer a season pass in order to keep players together. Creative Director Bernd Diemer explains:

“When we looked at the way Battlefront had evolved over its lifetime, with the DLC and everything, we decided, ‘You know what? For this type of game, season passes are not the best thing. We need to [take it apart] and come up with something better.”

“I cannot talk about the specifics of this, but we have something different in mind that will allow you to play longer, be [more] invested in the game without having a fragmented community.”
