**What is the role?**
Working within the EMEA IT Development department, the primary responsibility will be the development of the CRM & Subscription Management System and associated services. The primary development language is Java. The job will involve working on multiple projects, often in conjunction with the technology teams based within the United States, to further enhance system functionality and will include all aspects of the SDLC.
**What is my personal contribution?**
This position would be ideal for someone who would enjoy working with a wide variety of people from all areas of the business, has a strong technical background with good analytical skills and is keen to develop their skill set further. Responsibilities will include;
* Software development, primarily in Java and SQL, but also some VB and C#
* Compiling detailed test plans and performing QA on all developed work prior to deployment.
* Creating technical document for all developed work.
* Proactive input on system improvements, identifying problems and process enhancements.
**What do you need from me?**
* Strong Java based development experience (mainly core java with knowledge of JEE) within a Unix/Linux environment.
* Familiarity with Java world trends such as frameworks, libraries, design approaches.
* Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2008, including stored procedures and functions, SQL Management Studio and SQL Server database administration knowledge.
* Demonstrable knowledge of T-SQL(Scripting, Performance Tuning and Troubleshooting) and familiarity with MS SQL
* Experience in the design and implementation of web-based, service-oriented and database based systems.
* Good working knowledge of Javascript (ExtJS, jQuery), HTML,CSS (intermediate knowledge needed ).
* Unix / Linux scripting. Good understanding of business facing Linux stack, (not to a kernel level but good hands on exposure). Experience with Linux troubleshooting, tuning utilities and Linux administration, (especially Debian).
* Client and Server-side component design, detailed technical design, development & testing.
* Experience with technical architecture analysis, design, development, and enhancements.
* Good working knowledge of TCIP/IP networking concepts and principles, and version control systems and workflow
* Proven skills in investigating and debugging data related issues
* Experience with CRM products and / or subscription management systems
* Knowledge of operations within the publishing business
* Some experience of report development using Crystal Reports Developer (XI)
* Experience with Java Web Services
* Experience with virtualization; VirtualBox, VMware
* Hands on experience with cloud computing – e.g. Amazon Web Services
* XML/JSON parsing
* Experience with JUnit, Spring and SOA/Web Services
* Experience in developing with Visual Basic 6 and familiarity with C#.
* Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
