Toyfinity is seriously killing it these days! Beyond the incredible Mordles revival the mad genius John Kent has been hard at work (with some help from the master toy maker Matt Doughty himself) on a new line of Glyos compatible Robo Force figures. Those of us who attended NYCC were lucky enough to get our hands on the first available kits from the franchise, and let me tell you right now….you absolutely need to add these guts to your collection once they are widely released. Let’s take a look at Robo Force.
I had a few Robo Force as a child, and the hook of pop out weapons and features is something I am a sucker for to this day. The fond memories of Robo Force I always expected to stay in my mind, but once again Toyfinity comes to the rescue and brings a line that had moderate success in the 80′s and takes them right to the forefront of collectors minds with some incredible toys. Made up of 41 pieces each kit has LOADS of build potential, and they have managed to pack heads for multiple characters into each kit so no matter who your favorite character is there is most likely a head for you. Besides the heads we get plenty of parts to make bodies, and there is tank treads and legs (with hinged knees) to finish up almost any kind of bot your little heart desires. The legs with knee also fold up into some neat looking flight pods as well. There is also some weapon type parts like blades and guns to round out the package. The arms do a great job of mimicking the old “crusher” arms while still being totally viable parts for building. This preview release is produced in a “test shot” style grey, but I’m sure the main releases will be a nice mix of paint apps and colored PVC we are all so used to by now with the Glyos compatible toys. After spending many days with Robo Force I feel like I have barely scratched the surface of the things I could build, and having multiple sets in matching colors I’m sure will lead to some insane giant not build from the community of talented fans. I really like that we have been given options for various builds with these kits, and it manages to elevate these from Robo For e revival to tons of parts to make some killer robots to interact with your travelers, Weaponeers, and Callgrims.
QC is top notch on these guys. No paint and standard Glyos standards of quality lead to a superb product that everyone should own.
Since this is a Glyos compatible toy there are no accessories to speak of, but with each piece being able to form with others your accessories are only limited by your imagination.
Articulation is the standard swivel at each connection that works so well and allows for plenty of posing options.
Overall I freaking LOVE Robo Force and will be first in line to buy them when they come out…which by the way is This Sunday (Oct 27th) at 9pm EST in the Toyfinity Shop for $15 per kit.
