Back on June 10 I published a post called updating the progress on “Your Playbook For Tough Times.” In the past eight weeks the work has morphed yet again. In fact, it’s become two books.

Neither of which, unfortunately, are yet available for purchase.

How is it possible that two months have passed without my hitting “publish”? As they say on Facebook, “It’s complicated.”

Due to advice from some trusted industry folks, I have split the work in half. That meant retooling the press release and re-sending the manuscript to all those kind folks who offered to review.

It also resulted in a fair amount of rewriting, despite my original opinion of justfinenomoreeditsneededshutupshutupshutup. It reads so much better now, I think.

What the critics say

But don’t take my word for it. Here are a few snippets from advance reviews:

“Deciding to read this book could be that one decision that stands between you and a totally different life” (Mary Hunt, personal finance author and founder of Debt-Proof Living)

“One of a small number of books that has earned a permanent place on my reference shelf” (J.D. Roth, founder of Get Rich Slowly and Money Boss)

“(Donna) knows how to survive tough times, to live well on less and to create a good life even when bad things happen. She imparts all this wisdom with empathy and compassion – along with the occasional kick in the butt” (Liz Weston, AskLizWeston.com and author of five personal finance books)

“As someone with more than 30 years in the financial planning and personal finance writing fields, I can attest that you won’t find a better step-by-step guide anywhere” (Gary Foreman The Dollar Stretcher)

You can’t see me, but I’m blushing.

One more reader has yet to deliver the promised blurb. As this is a person* whose imprimatur I truly, truly desire, I’m holding off publication until I hear back. The writer had been on a long vacation and then needed to dig out from under, in addition to the usual workload (blog, radio show, podcast and for all I know another book).

Incidentally, if you are a blogger and interested in reviewing the book on your website and/or having me on your podcast, please contact me at SurvivingAndThriving@live.com. We’ll talk.

*Being deliberately vague here in case this person winds up panning the work. #allwritersareinsecure
