In the animated action/comedy Bolt she provided the voice of an alley cat named Mittens, but on April 23rd comedienne Susie Essman will use her voice to speak out for dogs in need as she raises spirits while also raising awareness of a paws cause.
The Curb Your Enthusiasm star will join Janeane Garofalo and Rebecca Corry on stage at the Gotham Comedy Club for the New York City stop of the Stand Up for Pits tour, which is helping to set the stage for a new era in compassion for canines who so often find themselves dogged by people’s prejudice.
Prior to the comedic presentation, potential pet parents can meet adoptable Pit Bulls; place bids on items in a silent auction and get a pooch smooch from actress/comedienne Rebecca Corry’s rescue dog, Angel.

The One Million PIBBLE March
Rebecca Corry’s Stand Up for Pits tour stop in New York City will take place less than two weeks before the One Million PIBBLE March–an historic, human-only event organized by Corry which will take place on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capital in Washington, D.C. on May 3rd from 12:30 p.m. – 2 p.m.
“My goal is to create safe and humane communities for humans and pets alike through raising awareness and identifying solutions,” states Corry, who is also the founder of the Stand Up for Pits Foundation. “I believe through laughter, positive images and education, we can make a difference. Quite frankly, this is a societal problem that affects us all as abuse that begins with pets can quickly extend to children. The targeting of pit bull terriers is unfortunately a direct reflection of broken society, but one that can be fixed and starts with constructive, awareness-building events like our One Million PIBBLE March.
“For 20 years I believed entertaining people was what I was meant to do until Angel came into my life and showed me that standing up for pits through entertainment is my true calling,” continued Corry. “She has given my life a greater sense of purpose. Angel is the inspiration for this March, Stand Up For Pits and living proof that Pit Bull Terriers are in fact, inherently good.”

John Rallo, a former mixed martial artist and proud parent of a rescue Pibble who has taken part in Baltimore’s Show Your Soft Side campaign.
Key-note speaker Jamie Buehrle, wife of Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Mark Buehrle, whose family has been personally affected by discrimination and forced to live apart due to BSL laws.
Leah Brewer, pet parent to Elle, a Pibble dubbed the Hero Dog of 2013.
Roo Yori, the proud pet parent of Hector, one of Michael Vick’s rehabilitated dogs, and the late, great Wallace, subject of the New York Times bestseller Wallace.
Baltimore Police Department Officer Kelly Steinhorn, who saved an abused Pit Bull called Pretzel.
Guardians of other rescued pit bulls terriers who have endured unspeakable abuse.
