RSPCA is appealing for information after a Staffie cross was abandoned in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire - left tied to a lamppost.
The animal welfare charity was called to the junction of Victoria Street and Princes Street on Wednesday afternoon (26 October) after a woman spotted the brindle and white crossbreed.
RSPCA inspector Dave McAdam said, "When no one came to collect the dog the woman became suspicious and, despite asking around in local shops, could not find her owner so got in touch with us.
"This poor pooch must have been very confused and frightened to have been abandoned at a busy junction tied to a lamppost. We took her into our care to make sure she receives the care she needs and left a note at the scene in case any owner did return for her.
"She is just five-months-old but has a deformed front left paw with missing toes so should be easily identifiable. I’d like to hear from anyone who recognises her or who might know who she came to be abandoned. You can contact us by calling the inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018."
Luckily the dog, now named Chelsea, was in a good condition, and as she's very friendly and affectionate, the charity is confident she will find a new loving home in no time if no one comes forward to claim her. She is currently being cared for by staff and volunteers at RSPCA Chesterfield & North Derbyshire branch.
