It’s no secret that I can see D’Marge HQ being located in Sydney one day. The sun, surf, and all round awesomeness makes this one of the best cities on earth. Now it’s said that Melbourne’s fashion scene is better than Sydney, but I’m here to prove that this city’s got some seriously cool menswear stores that challenge this theory. In no particular order, here are our favourite Sydney menswear stores.

1. May Day Market Westfield ($$)

One store which always gets a visit every time I go to Sydney is Mayday Market. If you like Raf Simons, Dior, Kris Van Asshe then you’ll like May Day Market’s not so super expensive variations of these of designers. I’ve purchased some great blazers and shorts here over the past couple of years and recommend a visit next time you’re at Westfield Sydney.

2. Harrolds ($$$$)

While you’re at Westfield Sydney stop past the iconic and super cool Harrolds. Harrolds has quickly become the #1 destination in Australia to buy mens luxury brands. Moncler, YSL, Tom Ford and more can all be found in this stunning shop. Staff are positively lovely and a coffee or San Pellegrino on arrival never disappoints.

3. Acne Paddington ($$)

A short cab ride from Sydney’s city will see you in the uber cool Oxford Street, Paddington area. Possibly known more for its women’s fashion boutiques, the odd menswear shop like Acne can be found. Acne is really the brand of the moment for me. Their t-shirts are killer, as too are their jeans and track pants. Well worth a visit to see what’s on offer.

4. Robby Ingham ($$$)

Found this gem over New Years in Sydney. Robby Ingham offers a smorgasbord of local and international mens luxury brands including Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, Helmut Lang, Paul Smith and more. There’s great men’s footwear available as well as a range of cool accessories too. Not cheap but quality all the way.

5. M.J. Bale ($$)

Suit shopping can be a really boring affair, that’s why we recommend a visit to M.J. Bale. Founded by our recent Man About Towner, Matt Jensen, M.J. Bale is Australia’s solution to classic tailoring for the not so classic man. You can buy suits off the peg or sit in for a made-to-measure beauty that’s yours and yours only.

6. P. Johnson ($$$)

While we’re on the topic of suits, you must simply book an appointment with P. Johnson tailors. The epitome of classic Italian tailoring, Patrick will have you looking like a spiff and ready for Pitti Uomo in no time. Lead time for a new suit is about 8 weeks but time flies when you’re being awesome.

7. Brent Wilson ($$)

Stumbled across Brent Wilson whilst goofing off at work about 5 years ago. Located in the The Galeries Victoria in Sydney’s city, Brent Wilson has a really cool range of what he calls ‘basics’ for men. We interpret this as a range of menswear to suit every occasion. I’ve purchased quite a few shirts and shorts over the years and it’s worth visiting for a look.

8. Incu ($$)

Whilst you’re at The Galeries Victoria shoot across the way and check out hiptster’s paradise, INCU. It’s the place to get fresh brands like Paul Smith, Saturdays Surf NYC and loads of others. No visit to Sydney is complete without a visit to INCU. They also have a store down Paddington way if you’re not in the city.

9. Assin ($$$$)

Now buyer beware. Assin is not cheap but my goodness it has some seriously dope threads in-store. Dior, Lanvin and Balenciaga just to name a few. Assin in the place where like the likes of Usher visit when he’s in town. Save your pennies, rob a bank or ask your Nanna nicely, but have your wallet well stocked when you visit.

10. David Jones ($$$)

You can’t beat David Jones when it comes to menswear and fragrances. Specifically I want to call out the shoe department, there’s some killer dress shoes in here. If you’ve got more than a few hundred to spend, then it’s worth a visit. Also a man must smell like a king and DJs cologne selection is pretty awesome. Costume Nationale, Tom Ford, Victor & Rolf, Amouage can all be purchased at DJs.

12. Culture Kings ($$)

For all you hip hop, sneaker and sportswear heads out there, this is for you. Located at  George St, Sydney, Culture Kings is a one stop shop for all your street, basketball, vintage and new athletic footwear and apparel needs. With brands like Nike, Adidas, Puma, Gravis, Reebok, Vans and New Era you’ll never need to shop online ever again. While you’re there make sure you treat yourself to a shave in their super cool barber shop.

12. Onepointsevenfour ($$$)
Looking for new sunglasses? Or perhaps you’re a little short sighted like me. Then look for further (pun!) than Onepointsevenfour in Paddington. It’s a must visit shopping destination every time I’m in the area. They stock a wide range of brands which you won’t find in most retailers. A personal favourite brand of mine is Cutler & Gross which Onepointsevenfour have a great range of.
