OXFORD – Ole Miss guard A’Queen Hayes was named women’s basketball freshman of the week by the SEC.
Hayes was strong for the Rebels in wins over Florida – in which she posted a double-double, her first – and Alabama.
The Horn Lake native had 15 points and 10 wins against Florida as Ole Miss secured its first SEC road win in two years by a 64-57 score. She added 10 points on Sunday as the Rebels defeated Alabama 77-63.
Hayes leads the team in assists with 2.5 per game and has scored in double figures in five of seven games since breaking into the starting lineup against South Alabama on Dec. 14.
Georgia junior guard Tiaria Griffin and Tennessee senior forward Cierra Burdick shared player of the week honors.
