Info: Jonathan Holder holds the MSU all-time saves record closing out 37 games during his Bulldog career. He is also the school’s single-season saves leader with 21 in 2013. The Gulfport native was selected in the sixth round (182nd overall) in 2014 by the Yankees. Holder went 7-6 with a 2.52 ERA, 90 strikeouts and 25 walks in 118 innings in his second season in the minors last year. He pitched 1 1/3 shutout innings allowing a hit against the Orioles on Saturday.

He is the only closer in MLB history to record 100 saves in both the American and National League. Papelbon was released by the Washington Nationals in August.

He pitched four innings for the Brewster Whitecaps in the Cape Cod League this summer but agreed to a free agent contract with the Royals and opted not to return to Starkville for his senior season.
