London, United Kingdom (required on-site)

We are looking for a graduate developer to join our growing Python team and help make the department become core to the workings and future of the company.

About the Position:
You’ll be joining our established Product team, working alongside our Product Owner and Senior Developer on existing growing products and new projects we have planned. You’ll be given responsibility from day one and be working on projects that vary between those that support our internal teams and standalone products that generate their own revenue stream. These include the following largely Django based projects:

DistilledU – a feature rich online SEO training platform – our latest project that came out of beta in June this year and is being well received by the SEO industry.
Distilled Store – an online store we’ve built from scratch to sell conference tickets and videos.
Internal Tools – building a range of tools, from quick hacks to fully functional tools, pulling from APIs and various data sets.
Distilled Tools – our internal reporting system and tool for managing freelance writers.
Distilled website – currently a WordPress site that we’ve got grand plans for turning into something far more awesome based on a Django CMS and blogging platform called Mezzanine that we will fully integrate with DistilledU and Distilled Store.
You’ll gain experience in Agile development practices and work in an open, fun and collaborative environment.

Requirements:
Python – some experience, not necessarily commercial.
Frickin smart – you will need an uncanny ability to get stuff done.
Passion for self improvement – technologies move quickly, we’ll expect you to keep up.
Evidence of getting things done – you’ll probably have a number of side projects.

Ideally you’ll also have experience with:
Front end skills – HTML (5 would be awesome), CSS, Javascript (jquery)
Version Control: Ideally Git
LAMP – You should be comfortable working with the full stack
Sys Admin
APIs – consuming and publishing

About Distilled:
Distilled is a well known name within the SEO industry and we enjoy a reputation for being experts at what we do. We are 100% owned by the two directors, with offices in London, Seattle and New York. Employees number 52 in total, with London being the biggest office.

We are aiming to build an environment that is the best place for the best people to work. We aren’t there yet, but we like to set ourselves lofty goals and we are constantly looking for ways to make this goal come true.

You’ll be joining an ambitious company where there are always opportunities to grab something and make it your own. Working at Distilled is hard but always exciting and we are constantly offering opportunities to do amazing things. For example:

Lynsey joined as Executive Assistant to Will and Duncan and now is Head of Events running our conferences worldwide.
Rob joined as an SEO consultant and is now COO.
Tom, our first SEO consultant, went on to set up and run the New York office

We like to have fun, with things like Beer o’clock every Friday, regular company outings and a meeting room that is largely used for 4 player Mario Kart. You’ll also get your own annual happiness budget which you can spend on whatever you see fit – purchases so far range from 24” monitors to a whisky cabinet.

About You:
You’re not the average graduate. You feel the need to push yourself so have various side projects you do just for the kicks. Most of all you will know how to enjoy life and will want a company that encourages a fun working environment.

You will need to excel at getting shit done, be super smart and never want to stop learning. You will have been coding for long enough to have a good understanding of the challenges involved.

You’ll likely also have an ever increasing array of languages you’ve dabbled in. If you don’t feel comfortable debugging code in a language you’ve never seen before or picking up and starting with a new language in around a week then you are probably not the right candidate for us.

If you fit this bill and we sound like the company for you then please apply.
