After much thought, and using my 2014 moleskine daily extra small planner for a while, I am beginning to be inclined towards 3x5 card format, instead of the Color-a-Month Daily Planner solution, in part because of fountain pen ink issues with moleskine paper.

I was thinking of creating some template that could be printed in a regular sheet of paper, then cut the days to size with a paper cutter, but I think that would be very prone to errors (by comparison, printing directly to 3x5 cards on my laser printer is fairly simple).

I really don't like the top flipping that the 3x5 card format necessitates (side flipping is neater, but doesn't fit in a shirt pocket with circa rings), it just seems like the least involved solution. But there are days I don't feel like writing much of anything, so it seems like a waste of perfectly good card space to pre-populate with dates like in a planner.

I have also found that entering dates in a blank notebook as needed requires more discipline and is not as neat, and the pre-made planner has its attraction to actually write on it, so far.

Just some rambling thoughts while searching for the ideal daily journal/diary/planner.
