This week, Elisha Albretsen from Pneumatic Addict has teamed up with us to bring you free plans for this DIY bench.

If you have a family of any size, you know how easy it is to get spaces like an entryway cluttered with everything from shoes to smelly soccer gear. A nice storage solution is a bench with baskets to store anything unsightly. Even if you are a beginner DIYer, Elisha’s DIY bench design is simple and easy to follow along.

Elisha was inspired to design her own DIY bench or ottoman using our RTC22 connectors for an indoor space. This project is perfect for an entryway, mudroom or any place you need some extra storage.

Our RTC22 connectors work well with 2×2 lumber to create nice strong square connections without having to deal with pocket holes. The connectors already come with pre-punched holes for the screws so you know exactly where to place them. Elisha used a clamp to ensure her project stayed nice and snug as she worked on drilling all of her screws in.

Using a clamp allowed Elisha to align the wood members with the connectors.

Once Elisha built the shell, she used four RTU2 connectors for the rails on the bottom of the DIY bench. Here is a shot of Elisha drilling the bench to install the casters for the project.

Once the frame of the bench was complete, she used some plywood cut to size, foam cut to the dimensions of the plywood and some faux leather fabric to create the cushion. She attached this cushion with two screws to the bench and she was done!

As you know, we are planning to head to the Haven Conference this week. Elisha from Pneumatic Addict will be there with Jen Woodhouse to teach a class on how to build an ottoman/storage bench for an outdoor space.

This DIY bench is a great weekend project that is easy, yet stylish. What are you planning to build next? Let us know in the comments below.
