Austin, Texas – ServaBid, a service-bidding app, will present their streamlined mobile app during South by Southwest’s Startup Spotlight event on March 7th, 2014 from 4 to 6 pm. ServaBid uses short, user-recorded videos to connect customers with service providers in virtually any area.
“Out of hundreds that apply, the SXSW Interactive Festival only selects 20 domestic companies to demo at the Spotlight event,” said Will Scott, Founder and CEO of ServaBid Inc. “We are very honored to showcase our innovative app, and are prepared to impress the audience with our resourceful features.”
ServaBid’s app is based on customer need and uses rapidly evolving smartphone technology to connect customers with service providers.
To find professionals in a particular field, users upload video “Tasks” showing/describing projects they want completed. The posted video Tasks are categorized for search by using hashtags. Service providers (individuals or businesses) place bids on completing consumer Tasks through the app. Consumers can accept, decline, or negotiate received bids, and directly search for service providers based on their locale and areas of expertise. After a project has been completed, users can post video feedback and ratings – a powerful way to display the quality of the service provider’s work.
Products that utilize existing technology in new ways–especially when those breakthroughs are made available to the public – is exactly the sort of innovation SXSW seeks to highlight at their annual conference.
South by Southwest describes the spotlight event as a place to “[shine] a bright light on some of the most innovative new companies at SXSW.”
Startup Villiage, where the Spotlight event will take place, launched at the 2012 SXSW Interactive festival and provides a space for participants to demo their product, service, or app. You can find Servabid in Startup Villiage on the day of the spotlight event on Friday, March 7 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at the Hilton Downtown Hotel, 500 E 4th St 4th Floor.
