Job Description: 

Responsibilities: Leadership of the Discipleship Southwestern service-learning team which requires close work with students, faculty and staff relative to faith formation of emerging adults. Service on the church relations committee and the service-learning council for the support and coordination of shared goals. Work closely with the college’s Office of Admission to market Discipleship Southwestern and meet student recruitment goals for the Discipleship service learning team and the Christian Discipleship studies minor. Build and sustain relationships with area youth ministers, camp directors, campus ministers as well as the Great Plains Conference of the United Methodist Church and other church organizations. Support academic instruction on relevant subject matter in collaboration with faculty and academic departments to support the general curriculum and college vision.

Special qualifications: Candidates must be able to demonstrate a theological foundation in the principles and practices of Christian discipleship. Candidates must possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and the willingness to work and communicate effectively with diverse populations and as a team.

Experience: Candidates are expected to have a faithful Christian witness and an appreciation for the Wesleyan theological tradition. Candidates must possess program planning, event planning, travel planning and mentoring skills with a minimum of one to three years of relevant experience in a setting committed to Christian faith formation. Previous experience with fiscal management and a proficiency in the utilization of social media is strongly preferred.

Education: Masters of Divinity or Masters of Arts in Christian Education, Practical Theology, Youth Ministry, Biblical Studies or Theological Studies or related field required. Core competencies: Faith Formation, Planning, Mentoring, Communication.
