Here we are in the dead of winter, and what better way to warm up than to enjoy a bowl of hot stew, soup or other such comfort food. Even better would be to be able to serve it up right out of the slow cooker. Wouldn’t you say? I love my slow cooker, in the winter it becomes my best friend.

Last month I shared 80 Gluten-Free Slow Cooker Recipes with you from various real food bloggers, and that post has been very popular. So popular in fact, that I decided to come back and give you more of what you are looking for. More gluten-free slow cooker recipes, oh my~! Not only are there more, these are all different from the first round. I’m telling you, once you get some of these recipes under your belt you will be loving life!

Perhaps you are new to the gluten-free lifestyle and thinking, ‘What on earth am I going to eat?’ Well, I’m here to show you #1, there are plenty of amazing things you can still eat and #2, it can be super easy too! Have no fear, I’ll hook you up! These recipes are sure to satisfy even those who still eat gluten! Every recipe shared below will be whole foods based to fit many styles of healthy eating.

Are you trying to get healthy dinners on the table and just can’t find the time? Maybe that was a dumb question to ask, because I don’t know anyone who isn’t busy. Let your slow cooker become your best friend, your personal chef and your life saver! With all of these recipes I’m sharing you could easily make dinner in your slow cooker every day if you wanted!

Perhaps you need a healing diet, are considering GAPS (Gut and Psychology Syndrome) and need to make more broth and soups. I often have two slow cookers going this time of year. One with perpetual broth or 7 day broth and another for our dinner, or even for an extra meal to have on hand as a ‘snack’ for my voraciously hungry teenager. I have 3 different slow cookers in my home and they all get used regularly.

*Please Note: I have done my best to make sure all recipes are truly gluten-free. Some may include gluten-free substitutes. It is up to every individual on a gluten-free diet to KNOW all the potential sources of gluten that can be lurking in various forms and read the ingredients of any recipe thoroughly before making. For a list of ingredients to avoid on a gluten-free diet, please refer to this article or this one; The Names & Sources of Gluten.

Historically, oats were not recommended because it was thought that avenin (the storage protein found in oats) was also toxic to gluten-intolerant individuals. However, recent research in Europe and the US has described that oats are well-tolerated by most children and adults when consumed in moderation and do not contribute to abdominal symptoms, nor prevent intestinal healing.

PLEASE NOTE: regular, commercially available oats are frequently contaminated with wheat or barley. However, “pure, uncontaminated” oats have recently become available from several companies in the US and Canada. These companies’ process oats in dedicated facilities and their oats are tested for purity. Pure, uncontaminated oats can be consumed safely in quantities < 1 cup per day.  It is important that you talk to your physician and your registered dietitian prior to starting oats.

Slow Cooker Cookbooks I Recommend

The Paleo Slow Cooker: Healthy, Gluten-Free Meals The easy Way (affiliate link) – If you are on a strict Paleo diet, like gourmet cooking, have little more wiggle room in your budget and enjoy gorgeous pics all bound in hardback -this book is totally for you! I love the ideas in this book!

Paleo Slow Cooking: Gluten Free Recipes Made Simple (affiliate link) – This book is family friendly and loaded with recipes that look easy and delicious. It also includes some paleo breakfast and dessert ideas, as well as complementary side dishes that are not done in the slow cooker.

Paleo Slow Cooker Recipes (affiliate link)-If you don’t mind reading cookbooks on your kindle, this cookbook looks good and it’s uber cheap!

Paleo Slow Cooker Soups & Stews (affiliate link) – Another one for the kindle. I do not have this eBook, but thought I would include it since it’s only .99 cents.

From Your Freezer To Your Family; Slow Cooker Freezer Recipes -  This is an eBook written by Stephanie of Mama and Baby Love. I recently picked up a copy and found it to be a great resource. It is 95% grain free and gluten free, and anytime a grain was involved (outside the extra recipe of Stephanie’s father-in-laws empanadas) was as a side to add later after the main meal was cooked. Her second mini-ecookbook is 100% grain free. This book has a lot of great ideas, plus a plan to get meals prepped and put up in the freezer for easy meals later on. I think it’s an interesting concept, one I hope to implement in my life a bit more.

Slow Cooker Sites

PaleoPot is a site based on the paleo diet and using a slow cooker for the most part. He has a great post on how to turn your analog crock into a programmable unit, that I thought was genius. (All recipes on this site are gluten-free).

Years ago, before I was a hardcore real foodie, I followed the blog; 365 Days of Crockpotting, which is now called A Year of Slow Cooking (trademark issues I guess). Anyway, it was crazy cool -Stephanie O’Dea took on a year of blogging how she used her crock-pot every single day for a year. Now, her recipes are not real food based though they are gluten-free, so for the creative minded chefs, her ideas might inspire you. So that’s why I mention it -to get ideas.

On Pinterest? Here is my Slow Cooker/Crock-Pot GF Pin Board

Don’t have a slow cooker yet? Here are a couple that I can recommend to you:

One of these is a regular ole crockpot that I use in my home. Another is a programmable one for the work-outside-of-the-home folks. Lastly, I’ve included my 22 qt. roaster – okay perhaps it’s not a crockpot, but it can act like one. It’s what I use to make beef bone broth. It can hold a lot of bones at once and since I simmer my beef broth for 3 days, this is a convenient way to do it and not take up so much space on my stove top. I’ve also done large batches of my pulled pork recipe  in it, as well as used it for a turkey. It makes a great holding place for my turkey at Thanksgiving too, when I need the oven for all the other items.

Stay tuned for my Slow Cooker Giveaway – coming later this month! Be sure to sign up for my feed or newsletter so you don’t miss the giveaway!
