Terry White

As a national franchisor operating in a very competitive retail market, Terry White was experiencing significant pressure to simultaneously add resources to support franchisee operations and cut costs to maintain business profitability. In addition, the business premises were near capacity with little room to add additional resources, which would further increase business fixed operating costs.

The solution was to engage Diversify ISS to undertake consultation with each of the department managers and their teams to consider how using offshore staff would solve the need for the incremental capacity required, at an affordable cost. The requirement was to help meet their medium and long term objectives.  As a result of this review, a number of roles were identified as being capable of being offshored.

Thereafter, the rollout of the offshoring strategy was implemented in conjunction with a business-wide communication strategy. The roles which have since been offshored include finance, IT support, graphic design, customer support and marketing support. This has all been done without the need to increase local business infrastructure and related fixed operating costs.

Hynes Legal

Hynes Legal is a boutique specialist law firm located in Brisbane.  With the legal services market under significant pressure to provide better value to clients, Hynes Legal decided to offshore a range of functions to both increase their back office resources and to downsize their office space to reduce fixed costs.

Through the process of offshoring, Hynes Legal has added a range of business support services that it simply could not afford locally. These include a search engine optimisation specialist, a graphic designer, a precedents coder, a data entry specialist and a journalist. In addition, word processing and finance support is also now Philippines-based. This significant reduction in fixed costs, achieved through both offshoring and downsizing of local operations, has allowed the firm to reduce the hourly rates charged to clients by an average of 15 % while at the same time improving the quality of business support services.

The implementation of this strategy has resulted in a significant improvement in the firm’s systems, processes, precedents and marketing activities, and has dramatically increased its overall profitability.
