A surprisingly productive day off!
Not pictured: several trips to the bathroom and falling back asleep before I finally decide to get up for good at almost 10am. YAY I slept in!!
Sleepy cat next to sleeping husband.
Belly update! I'm 36 weeks along now, and things are beginning to move! We may have a baby in a week or so. Ahh!
I've been waking up starving in my third trimester, so first up is a huge bowl of cereal and my current read. If you liked The Fault in Our Stars, you'll definitely like this one. So good.
Spend an hour or so reading and leave off at this spot. I have to force myself.
To the nursery! I begin going through all the cloth diapers and other gear to organize what needs to be washed and all that. Definitely in the nesting phase. I wish it wouldn't have taken until this late in my pregnancy to kick in, but it's here.
Check back in our bedroom and see this adorable pair. Awww.
Unpack more baby stuff...
...and then move onto de-Christmasing the house. I love decorating for the holidays, but didn't anticipate what a pain it would be this year to get everything down. Ugh.
Woo, husband gets up and that means... dishes get washed and coffee is made. He specifically requested I photograph his ritual, so here you are. Featuring locally roasted beans and the awesome cup we got from our trip to Seattle.
Laundry.
Background music is set. (Awesome album, by the way!)
Take my cup to another project: dating the Christmas cards we received and putting them up. Please tell me I'm not the only crazy person that does this.
I also date the ornaments we buy each other every year. Lion-O is from two years ago, obviously. ;)
And somehow, all of that mess and more is condensed into these.
I sit for a while to meal plan, and am joined by the cat. She hasn't sat on my lap in months! Good thing meal planning takes me a while. Also--belly shot! Well, kind of.
Done! Meal plan and groceries for the week planned out.
Back to the nursery! I go through the onesies that were decorated at my baby shower. Close-ups are favorites. The red meat/poopy onesie is a joke from my brother in law... We don't eat meat. ;)
Interrupted by a facetime call with my mama, and lunch made by husband. Egg and veggie sandwich!
I try to finish up with my mom quickly so that I can eat and read...and end up finishing the book!
Cat has found a new spot by the windows.
Get dressed and grab my bag. We're heading out..
But husband is taking forever to get ready, so I wait for a bit on the hammock.
In the car! We check mail (more political crap, thank you former-Senator Thrasher) and are finally on our way.
Our first stop is Home Depot, where we return some light bulbs and try to match up this size. Doesn't sound difficult, but ends up being almost impossible. Who would've thought.
We eventually find the right size and make our way back outside, where the sky looks like this.
Second stop!
Husband gets a free refill of coffee and spices it up. Preparation for our grocery shopping...
Stop #3 for certain things on sale. The most awesome, wonderful, amazing grocery store ever. Seriously, this particular Publix is great and has the best customer service.
Stop #4 (right across the street) for a few additional things on sale.
Bam, home. Change into comfy jammies and pose on the nursery rug. I love this rug.
There's still a good amount of work to do in his nursery, but I am very happy with his little library so far! We asked guests to bring books in place of cards to the shower, and that's where most of the top row came from.
Listen to an older story from NPR. I'm reading Dr. Brazelton's newest book since my mom suggested it. Pretty interesting! Has anyone else heard of him? Apparently he was a huge thing when I was born.
I lose some time here adding books to my "to read" shelf on Goodreads. Oh man. It's probably a good thing I don't do the young adult ordering at my library. ;)
But back to business. This is what we picked up at Publix/Winn Dixie. The gardein items were a splurge, since they were BOGO.
Love this stuff for our soups!
I have to reorganize the freezer to make room for new purchases. We may need to eat from the freezer the next few weeks to make room...
In reorganizing everything, I realize we may have an issue with hoarding coffee. The Cafe du Monde tins do not have that coffee in them... We use them for the bags that don't hold up well in the freezer.
Snack!
I try to cut this squash in half, but decide it's not worth it and have husband finish it off. This is how I left it for him.
Into the oven!
While that roasts, time for cookies! (This recipe is awesome, by the way. I did leave mine in longer than she suggests, but otherwise perfect.)
Husband calls me over to check out this insane spot in Diablo. He's killing unicorns and teddy bears.......ooookay.
I recruit him to help me finish the cookies. Energy is starting to run out...
I attempt to start prepping the rest of the soup, but...
...I get knocked down by a contraction. I've been getting light Braxton Hicks, but this one really hits me. Husband grabs a blanket and pillow so that we can do some of the laboring positions from class, which seems to help. It eventually lets up.
Seems like a good time to write up what I need to put in my hospital bag!
And some Trivia Crack, obviously.
Husband and I collaborate to finish up the soup, which turns out great! Time for my next read...
Tester cookie comes out, a little undercooked for my liking, so the rest go in for longer.
I get another spurt of energy, so gather everything for my hospital bag...
Try to decide what to bring for baby's going home outfit, but I can't make up my mind! At this point, I get really-super-exhausted all of a sudden and go lay on the couch, where I promptly fall asleep.
Paul eventually moves me to the bed, but the photos end there, haha.
