quick backstory .. my Recently installed software program called auslogics 8 ( was recently purchased ( 05.31.16 ) ) was upgraded to version 9.. so installed the new program which inturn removed the 8 version ., installed 9 and then the software demanded another year of payment.
So got a hold of support who in helping me was able to login ( with my permission to look around, then informed that their sales staff will email me in the next 24 hours will be able to help me out .. so far so Good ...
Now here is the kicker- ( I wasn't born yesterday - but sometime I wonder ) .. the tech discovered through his own software that my registry contains a ''browser Hijack '' which he says only qualified tech people such as Best Buy Geek squad can remove .. "it needs a full system tuneup to remove this browser hijack malware ."
OR instead of paying the geek squad $350 to remove and your PC is out of the house for 3 days.. their own techs can get in and remove in 3 to 4 hours for a price of only $250 .. ( good tactical technique these guys employ on unsuspecting clients) .
I said I will browse the net for my own remedy .. he then informs me ' this procedure is very sensitive and only qualified techs could do this ' ..
( yeah right) .. I thanked him ,, said No and we disconnected ..
SO couple things here - is my 'browser hijack' because of my Dashlane .? ?
and he may be right about the hijack browser as I receive about 6 emails a day from 'spam related malware' asking me to come see their girls on line and it HAS not stopped in my inbox emails ( ip provider Shaw) every day for over a month now .. these malware spam emails were picked up from my firefox web browser to somewhat innocent sites ( not Porn ) .,
so this is why I bought the Auslogics software and I also have malwarebytes anti malware software installed and running in background as well I also have the purchased AVG protection all installed on this windows XP pro O/S .. none of which any of these two or three installed programs every detected browser Hijack ..... ???
Ideas ? advice ? thanks
