I wonder no one talked in the forums about defold game engine which they have been using for internal purpose, recently been made free as announced this GDC.

I am yet to explore this engine but thought to share a word about it.
I went through the terms and conditions first before making an account at defold and also went through forums before giving it a try. Despite people having confusion as to why KING, the king, will make its engine free without getting any good out of it and also that our projects will be initiated from their own servers, most people said that the game engine itself is awesome in many ways.

Many people quoted 'King is a company which once wanted to sue developers for using the words candy and saga when their own game idea was not original!'

But in end, whosoever has used it has said that game engine apart from it's subjected to changed license/terms-conditions/closed-sources/no-extensibility/etc..etc..etc. the tool itself is great.
(Personally, I picked up cocos2d-x over Unity because of reasons of strings attached and it being closed source and I never know what they're doing to my code and assets- which atleast all indie developers would hate. And yes btw, also for the love for C++)

TL; DR
SO, @slackmoehrle and @pandamicro, my only motive to share http://www.defold.com/ here is that since our community is in a phase of building cocos creator, we can always take ideas from already matured game engines or merits of them so that we can iterate much faster and come up with a better product which is loved by all.
