Rumors of a Gilmore Girls revival have been around for quite some time, and now it looks like fans of mother and daughter duo Rory and Lorelei Gilmore officially have something to celebrate.

Netflix is supposedly reviving Gilmore Girls for another season on their own digital channel that will actually be four 90 minute extended episodes, more like movies.

The creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband, the show’s executive producer Daniel Palladino, will be both on board along with the lead actors Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel. The revival is supposedly going to pick up after a time jump to make sense with present day and the real time that has past since the show last aired.

Gilmore Girls originally ran for seven seasons, premiering on the WB network and then moving to the CW in 2006 after the merger.

Fans can be sure that the revival will do the original series justice, since Pallandino has been clear about this in the past when she’s been asked about the possibility. Last summer at the ATX festival she was asked about it and had answered:

“If it ever happened, I promise we’d do it correctly. … Nobody here hates each other, which is very important. It would have to be the right everything, the right format, the right timing. It would have to be honored in a certain way. And if it ever came around, we would all jump in and do it.”

Although the news of the revival has been reported, both Netflix and Warner Brothers have so far declined to comment.
