Penang . 2013 . Jan 17 - 20

This post is a continuation of our previous post on Batu Ferringhi Night Market Review. You may also read the full review of our 4 Days 3 Nights short getaway trip to Penang here.

After an eventful day where we visited Penang Hill & Monkey Cup Eco-Garden, Kek Lok Si Temple (极乐寺) and Batu Ferringhi Night Market, we decided to have a more relaxing Day 3 at Penang.

The plan for the day goes like this:

Enjoy a relaxing breakfast @ The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf ( G Hotel)

Catch a late morning movie @ Golden Screen Cinema (Gurney Plaza)

Try the afternoon tea buffet @ G Hotel

Shop in the air-conditioned Gurney Plaza

Pack take-away dinner from Gurney Drive Hawker Centre

No more visits of tourist attractions for Day 3...the plan looks more like a typical staycation holiday that you might have in Singapore, abeit at a much cheaper price and lesser crowd.. :)

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (G Hotel)

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (more commonly called "Coffee Bean") is an American coffee chain, with its headquarters in Los Angeles, California. The first outlet opened in September 1963 and has over 900 locations in 23 countries, including Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Israel, South Korea, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates and Vietnam.

We had preferred The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf over Starbucks in Singapore and were glad to know that there is an outlet just at the lower floor of G Hotel facade. We had tried their breakfast once in Singapore and were pleased with their selections, thus the decision to have a relaxing breakfast on the 3rd day of our Penang Trip.

We ordered 2 breakfast sets - Pancake Platter Set (MYR $17.50) and Eggs Benedict Set (MYR $16.80). Both sets come with a choice of either French Roast coffee or Ceylon Tea.

Pancake Platter Set.  Not too bad. It comes with scrambled eggs and 2 sausages.

Eggs Benedict Set. Think the one that we had at The Coffee Club @ Gold Coast was better. But this one is still ok.

We chose a cup of French Roast coffee and a cup of Ceylon Tea that comes with the two sets.

Overall, the bill worked out to be MYR $36.35 (inclusive of 6% taxes), which is around SGD $14.50.

If you are staying at G Hotel when you are at Penang, do drop by The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf for a relaxing breakfast! :)
