FRANKFORT, Ind. - Yet another coach has been charged with inappropriate behavior with a student.
Indiana mugshot of Thomas Weeks
Thomas Weeks, 46, now of Frankfort, Indiana (northwest of Indianapolis), was taken into custody May 28 on allegations that he had inappropriate contact with a female student at the high school in Frankfort where he was head basketball coach.
Weeks was a basketball coach in Princeton, Indiana, for a couple of years, leaving Princeton in 2011 after taking that high school to a 29-o state championship in 2009.
Frankfort Chief of Police Troy Bacon made a public statement for media about the situation: ”These types of allegations are taken very seriously and investigated with the utmost sensitivity. Cooperation between the Community School of Frankfort and our detectives, as well as information gathered during the investigation, led to Weeks’ arrest.”
There’s been a rash of high school coaches/teachers arrested in recent years after allegations surfaced of inappropriate relationships with students; most of them have lead to dismissal, charges and convictions. However, there remains the possibility that many of the allegations surface when kids get the idea that they can call attention to themselves and make false reports…so it remains to be seen which type of case this one is, as there was never any report of such behavior out of Weeks when he was in Princeton.
