Lawrence County – Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene of an accident involving two vehicles on Sunday, October 13th, 2013.  Neither driver was injured, but one driver’s troubles were only just beginning.

When they arrived, authorities determined that a Toyota pickup driven by Amanda Wiman, 32, of Bridgeport had tried unsuccessfully to passa vehicle driven by John Suppert, 66, of Lawrenceville. When both Suppert and Wiman noticed a car approaching in the oncoming lane, they both slammed on their brakes while Wiman tried to cross back over in front of Suppert. She ended up striking his vehicle and going into a ditch on the right-hand side of the road.

During the investigation, officers discovered that Wiman had another alias, Amanda McGuire. McGuire has a lengthy record, littered with traffic tickets, a DUI, and a 2002 trio of nasty meth charges that landed her in DOC for a four-year bit. Amanda McGuire was wanted on a Failure to Appear warrant stemming from a recent DUI out of Lawrence County.  She was promptly arrested and taken to the Lawrence County Jail on the Failure To Appear charge and for driving without insurance.

McGuire was later released on $150 bond.
