CANANDAIGUA, NY – The Canandaigua Motorsports Park faithful was met with another beautiful night last Saturday night. The night of racing was sponsored by Pampered Parents of Canandaigua, NY and Labatts Blue.

Gary Tomkins won his second feature of the 2015 season and 51st career feature at Canandaigua Motorsports Park. Tomkins took the lead on lap 19 after starting tenth in the 35 lap big block modified feature, using the outside lane to slip by Gil Tegg Jr. In the end, it was Tomkins getting the checked flag ahead of previous week’s winner Tim Fuller who got second. Tomkins has been piloting the Richie Vinson owned big block modified all season at CMP.

Third place went to Tegg while Matt Sheppard was fourth and Justin Haers was fifth. Alan Johnson was sixth, Steve Paine was seventh, early race leader Chad Homan was eighth and Vic Coffey was ninth while Ryan Suscie rounded out the top ten.

He`was able to duck into the pits to make the necessary change and return to the race.

The yellow came out again on lap eight when several cars came together inside turn two.

On the restart, Matt Guererri was able maintain his lead, but just before the yellow came out on lap 12, Kane Bristol moved right onto the back end of Guererri as the field had to slow down once again. Matt Guererri continued to be strong when the green reappeared., keeping Bristol in his rear view mirror, who stayed close. Guererri went on to his first career CMP win.

The Guererri family makes up much of the racing program at the Canandaigua Motorsports Park every week. Up until last Saturday, Matt was the only family member that hadn’t won a feature event.
