CANANDAIGUA, NY – After a week off due to inclement weather, Canandaigua Motorsports Park was back in action last Saturday night. This time, a big crowd was met with a pit full of competitors with Bytronics Incorporated taking up residence in the Bill Turner VIP Towers.

Tim Fuller of Edwards, NY won at Canandaigua Motorsports Park for the first time since 2009, winning the 35 lap big block Modified feature. Fuller was exceptionally strong on the top lane of the Fast CMP half mile oval. Fuller started the main in the sixth position.

Fuller took the lead on a lap 17 restart from past multi-time champion Steve Paine, who took the lead from Fuller on lap 15 restart. Paine, however, wouldn’t go away and stayed close to Fuller as the two headed to he checkered flag.

“I would like to thank Dave and Kelly Rauscher for this opportunity,” said Fuller afterwards. “I don’t think that we had the fastest car tonight. We had a good starting spot.”

Finishing third was Matt Sheppard, who started fourteenth and made a late race run to the front of the field. Justin Haers, winner the previous week, finished fourth with Gary Tomkins and Alan Johnson rounding out the top six.

Heat race winners were Fuller and teammate Dave Rauscher.

In the 25 lap Advanced Awareness Sportsman feature, it was Kevin Ridley with the victory .

Ridley took the lead on lap 19 and survived several caution periods and was pressured by second place finisher AJ Lloyd. Lloyd went low beside Ridley as the two went down to the finish line in an exciting finish. Ridley won by .027 seconds.

Dave Conant Jr finished third while Kane Bristol was fourth and Karl Comfort rounded out the top five.

Heat race winners were Nick Guererri, Matt Guererri and Ridley.

In the 20 lap Dig Safely 305 Sprint feature, Steve Doell took his fourth career win at Canandaigua Motorsports Park and his first of 2015. The event was red flagged on lap seven when Eric Karlson found himself on his side between turns one an two. On the restart, Doell would take over the lead and lead the remainder of the race. Nick Cooper would finish second. Dan Kuhn was third and Jonathan Preston was fourth. Heat race winners were Cooper and Charlie Donk.

“The track was awesome,” said Doell, in victory lane. “This was our first this year. Our fourth career.”

In the combined Parts Plus Street Stocks/Pure Stock 20 lap feature, Pete Stefanski won the Parts Plus Street Stock portion while Pat Hobbs was second and Blane Smith was third. Steve Pesarek was fourth and Mike Welch fifth, Scott Smith won for the Pure Stocks. Second was Eric Chapman with Brad Steinruck third. Fourth was Shawn Lloyd. The heat race winner in the Parts Plus Street Stocks was Blane Smith. Eric Chapman was the Pure Stock heat race winner.

In a intermission program, the Power Wheel winners were as follows. Kyle Ridley (age 5); Ryan Ferrai (age 5); Isabelle Kulano (age 5); Davina Patchen (age 6); Lea Banker (age 3); Logan Boup (age 6);Nathan Galens (age 3); Natalie Faster (age 4); Gia Ceito (age 5). The postponed “Cabin Fever” for the Hoosier GRIT Series Sportsman is also on the racing program for the evening. Racing starts at 7:30pm, General Admission Gates open at 5:00pm and Pit Gates Open at 4:00pm.
