BRIGHTON – A massive field of 81 stock cars and 12 school busses filled Brighton Speedway as Lange and Fetter Ford presented the Workman’s OK Tire School Bus Races. It was the first of two appearances in 2015 for the school buses. The buses return in September for the Eve of Destruction.

Sandercock Earns Third Victory

Belleville driver Charlie Sandercock (No.57 Bellevue Fabricating) scored his third victory of the season in Vanderlaan RUSH Pro Late Model action on Saturday night. The win also comes in the first ever Hotch’s Auto Parts Pro Late Model Triple Crown race.

Terry Hunt (No.20 Krown Rust Control) and David McDonald (No.97 McDonald Homes) led the 16-car field to the green flag. Sandercock, who started seventh, wasted little time picking his way through the field, taking the lead at lap nine. The defending champion had Greg Belyea (No.25 Excel Tower Service) in tow during his trek to the front.

The race’s only caution came on lap 14 when James Seymour (No.77 Dibbits Excavating) and Hunt got tangled. The restart did not allow any of the other 15 drivers to remove Sandercock from the point. The win was Sandercock’s second in a row.

Lucas Wins First Career Canadian Modified Feature

Josh Hennessy (No.88 A&A Haulage) and Shawn Gregory (No.1 CPS Wood Products) brought the OilGARD Canadian Modified field to the green flag for the 25-lap main event.

Fourth-place starter Mitch Rosborough (No.36 Kerr Construction) took the lead on lap three. Lucas, who started fifth, had different plans than Rosborough and took the lead with just six laps to go.

Lucas had to fend off an eager Doug O’Blenis (No.32 John’s Car Care) and Dan Ferguson (No.11 Kilmarnock Enterprise) in the dying laps to secure the victory.

Ramsay Makes It Three

Doug Anderson (No.72 Hut’s Bobcat Service) and Justin Ramsay (No.03 Empey Tire) entered the night tied for the Brighton Automotive Pro Stock points lead, an accomplishment that earned them co-Drivers of the Month.

Brian Cross (No.08 Sobey’s) and Jamie Marshall (No.55 C&L Upholstery) led 15-car field to the green flag. A first lap collision involving Anderson and Leslie Mowat (No.2 Cormier’s Auto Recycling) caused a yellow flag, but didn’t stop Marshall from taking the lead.

As Anderson began moving to the front, so too did Ramsay. Ramsay assumed the lead on lap 10, but his lead was erased on a lap 14 caution. On the ensuing restart, Anderson jumped to the lead, but Ramsay battled back on lap to recapture the point. The two drivers battled wheel-to-wheel to the finish and Ramsay edged the defending champion by less than a nose to earn the victory.

Greer Wins First of Season

Wellington, Ont. pilot Brady Greer (No.94 Greer Excavating) captured his first checkered flag of the season, ending the combined four-race win streak for the Dirty Fast Racing teammates Tyler French (No.0 Empey Tire) and Shelby Mills (No.78 ABC Taxi).

Tyler Parker (No.8 D&T Lawn Maintenance) and Emily Weedman (No.87 Dent Masters) paced the field to green for the second leg of the ABC Taxi Triple Crown but it wasn’t long before Brady Greer took the lead on lap four.

The race was slowed for caution on lap eight when Mills and Courtney Mastin (No.97 DW Metal Expressions) tangled while Riley Greer (No.47 Greer Excavating) took his Honda into the backstretch creek.

On the ensuing restart, Greer drove away and left a vacuum for the second position. A four-car battle developed between Parker, French, Mastin and Mills for the runner-up spot. Parker would eventually secure the position, but Brady Greer had already checked out in front of the field and cruised to the victory.

Lammle Trumps Big Stinger Field

Trenton, Ont. wheelman Chris Lammle (No.95 Sowerby Signs) finally captured his first Quinte Septic Stinger victory on Saturday night, claiming the victory over Chris Johnson (No.64) and Andy Fletcher (No.42 Like-Nu Driveway Sealing).

Lawrence Evenden (No.25) and Geoff York (No.33) led the field to the green flag before Lammle charged through the field from his 11th-place starting position. Lammle passed both Johnson and Fletcher on route to his first victory of the season.

LeClair Wins Bus Showdown

Deno LeClair was the big winner in the Workman’s OK Tire School Bus spectacle. LeClair drove his No.3 bus to the winner’s circle as he outdueled Bob Green (No.8) and Derek Vanderhill (No.9).

The race was stopped briefly when Brighton Speedway track promoter rolled his No.19 bus in the main event. He was uninjured.
