Overnight storms made the conditions extremely tough and technical here at the circuit of Leon for the penultimate round of the FIM Motocross World Championship. The saturated dirt, which is a mix of clay and soil, became very thick and sticky, which kept the riders on their toes as they were faced with the challenge of riding fast but smart.
Consistency wasn’t a problem for Yamaha Factory Racing Yamalube’s Romain Febvre who waxed everyone today for a perfect fifty point score, his fourth this season. Meanwhile American racer Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team’s Thomas Covington was the break out star in MX2 after hitting two milestones with his first ever race win and MX2 grand prix overall.

What better way to head into your home grand prix than as the most recent round winner? Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team’s Thomas Covington hit a couple of milestones today and proved just how versatile he is with a solid ride in race one for fourth, which he followed up with his first ever race win in race two and overall victory. “I am beyond stoked. I didn’t even know I had the overall win until I walked up to the podium and I had to ask where I should stand. It is an amazing feeling.”
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Pauls Jonass, mentored by the greatest of all time Stefan Everts, had the craziest weekend. Just when it looked as though the title challenger had hooked a gear, with his race 1 win and 9 point gain on the red plate holder Gajser, it all turned sour when he crashed crossing the Fox Holeshot line (but still took it) and then again a lap later in spectacular style when he was catapulted off his bike. Even though the Latvian lessened his chances of claiming the 2015 FIM Motocross MX2 World Championship title, he can count himself lucky that he walked away from such an enormous crash unscathed.

KTM250/300 EXHAUST MANIFOLD MODS!
The 250 and 300 KTM 2 strokes have exhaust manifolds that are not only susceptible to breaking when the pipe takes a hard hit, but the exhaust port also sits low enough to where it causes a nice size blockage in the port. This Hurts power from idle to wide open. The modified exhaust manifold from BestDualSportBikes fixes both these problems. First, the welding up of the top of the manifold makes it much stronger than stock, keeping it from breaking during big hit.
Then, it lets the top of the exhaust port be cut high enough to where it opens up the port at all the exhaust valve openings. Ward, Stanton and Bradshaw teamed up for the Motocross of Nations in Vimmerby, Sweden, but this would turn out to be one of the toughest weekends ever for Team USA. Bradshaw had moved to the 250 class for ’90 but dropped back to a 125 for the MXdN. It didn’t go well, as Bradshaw struggled to find the pace on the smaller bike, and then crashed out of his second moto, leaving the track on a stretcher. Ward had troubles on his 500, too, blowing out a rear shock. It would come down to Stanton, riding the wheels off of his CR250 in a come-from-behind effort in the final moto to steal with win for Team USA by a single point.

Valadao (CA-21), Sam Farr (CA-20), and Jeff Denham (CA-10) introduced H.R. 1838, the Clear Creek National Recreation Area and Conservation Act, to direct the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to reopen the 75,000 acre Clear Creek Management Area in San Benito and Fresno counties for recreational use, including access for off-road vehicles. Earlier this year, California Reps. David G. Valadao (CA-21), Sam Farr (CA-21), and Jeff Denham (CA-10) introduced H.R. 1838, the Clear Creek National Recreation Area and Conservation Act, to direct the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to reopen the 75,000 acre Clear Creek Management Area in San Benito and Fresno counties for recreational use, including access for off-road vehicles. Once considered a premier off-road vehicle recreation site, Clear Creek was temporarily closed in 2008 to the public after an Environmental Protection Agency analysis about the risk created by naturally occurring asbestos.
The bill instructs the BLM to develop a rigorous plan to minimize the risk from asbestos exposure and educate visitors about the naturally occurring asbestos. The BLM would also be required to find ways to reduce the impact of off-road vehicles to protect the area’s habitat.
“This legislation is one of the rare opportunities where all stakeholders will benefit from land designation legislation.” said Steve Koretoff, member of the BlueRibbon Coalition and the American Motorcyclists Association. “It will allow responsible motorized recreation while at the same time protecting sensitive lands and habitat. Californians look forward to being able to recreate in this unique area once again.”
