Is the last weekend of Summer. When someone asks, what did you do this summer? Don’t say, ummm… nothing. It’s that time of the year again. Time for deep fried goodies galore, grilled corn on the cob, horse races, farm animals, live music, award winning beer & wine, rides & carnival games, and as much gadget shopping as you can handle. It’s time to celebrate all things beer in Los Angeles. With LA Beer Week taking place from September 19 – 29. It’s a collection of beer-centric events located through LA and the OC. With it’s kick off gala event taking place on Sept 22 at Union Station. This event features unlimited sampling from over 50 breweries in the beautiful, iconic art deco ticketing hall in LA’s famous Union Station. The Butterfly Pavilion, the living habitat where hundreds of butterflies flutter among nectaring plants, returns for its 15th year at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. Of the 53 species of butterflies, 20 will be native to the Golden State.

There will be a brief panel discussion moderated by David Ulin, book critic of the Los Angeles Times, with Professor William Deverell, Sandra Tsing Loh, and Christine Mulholland as they talk about the fascinating mixture of fact and fiction in Roman Polanski’s iconic look at greed, power, lust, and the rise of modern Los Angeles. Panel discussion begins at 6:30 pm; film begins at 7 pm.
September 27-29 - The San Gennaro Foundation kicks off October’s Italian Heritage Month, a celebration of everything it means to be Italian, with their annual street festival, The Galbani® Cheese Italian Feast of San Gennaro, Los Angeles. Inspired by the 80+ year old New York City tradition, the Feast celebrates Italian culture, entertainment and cuisine, and will feature great food, music, genealogy research, kid’s corner, bocce, bingo, carnival rides, games and more. Surprise celebrity guests will join the cooking team, as they demonstrate Italian recipes on the Galbani® Cheese La Cucina Italiana Cooking Stage with special guest, Galbani® Cheese’s very own Chef Marco. September 28 – Join hosts Suzanne Goin, Caroline Styne and David Lentz as well as more than 30 of the top chefs and mixologists from across the country as they serve up tastings to raise funds for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and the fight against childhood cancer. Each chef and mixologist prepares a signature dish for guests to sample. Guests have the opportunity to stroll the lawn of the historic Culver Studios Mansion, tasting incredible fare and meeting and even chatting with the chefs who prepared it. L.A. October 21-22 – Join Link N Hops for their first annual Oktoberfest as they celebrate the fall season with craft beer and great food for two days in Atwater Village.
