Search engine optimization (SEO) is a game where the rules keep changing so one has to be on their toes all the time and success depends upon how hard you try to stay one step ahead of your competition.
It isn’t the mountains ahead to climb that wear you out; it’s the pebble in your shoe. Muhammad Ali
The above quote sums up how hard it is to maintain competitive dominance in online marketing and it is necessary to be aware of how search engines are changing. It’s not easy but can be done by changing your content and SEO strategy. In the world of SEO, there is no such thing as ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’ because SEO industry is in always a state of flux. So here are trends of 2017 and hopefully it will prove to be helpful to stay ahead of the curve.
Keep an eye on Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP)
Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMPs) is a Google-backed initiative that will allow webmasters to create pages capable of loading quickly on mobile devices. It is an open-source protocol and with simple structural changes, it would be possible to load your pages on a mobile device faster and consume eight times fewer data. Since 2014 Google started to favor sites that where mobile responsive and based its ranking on that but in 2017 AMP will be given more importance and those who have switched over to AMPs, will get more visibility in a carousel and a small icon (with a lightning bolt) indicating their AMP status. Google is the epitome of staying ahead of the curve and with the launch of AMP, it has prevented a huge switch away from mobile web browsing towards native apps.
AMP will keep its users engaged with Google search on mobile devices so keep a close eye plus AMP could most probably have an impact in e-commerce and SERPs.
User Experience Optimization (UEO) will push boundaries in SEO.
When a person logs into a website if the user experience is not good they will not spend time and Google favors sites that are properly optimized for mobile devices, so your site must load quickly and that will lead to prolonged time spent on page. So work on that because you may not be able to see your targeted audiences but you can most centrally measure it and it cannot be stressed more…. Google will bestow favors on pages that offer better user experiences!
Dynamic content would still work
2017 is going to offer more opportunities and we will experience new types of search and more advanced forms of conversational queries—and that means new ranking opportunities in both areas. Keywords still have value but you must optimize the content because the content experience will evolve so it is imperative to make their browsing journey more personalized than ever in 2017. So one would have to raise the bar on quality content and that will lead to an increase in organic traffic.
