Netbooks might be coming to the end of the production line, but as a consumer that means that now is the time to get great netbook deals. If you’re looking for all the portability of a tablet like the iPad 3G, but don’t like typing on a touch screen  and would like a little more memory to store your files, then a netbook is still the perfect solution. Whilst new models might no longer be being made, that doesn’t mean that some of the existing models on the market aren’t great devices. Think you might be interested? If you’re looking for a really great deal, then these are the top selling netbooks in the UK. Check out some of these popular options…

Lenovo ThinkPad X 120e

The best-selling netbook right now, though some might argue about that. Lenovo insists on referring to the computer as an ultra-portable, rather than using the name netbook. But it’s immediately recognisable as actually being a netbook, small, light and cheap. It’s one of the fastest, most powerful netbooks around, and it gets great battery life too.

The Lenovo IdeaPad S205

Yes, Lenovo does hold both the top spots. And the IdeaPad is sleek and stylish and features a huge ard drive, making it perfect for those that like to take their whole music collection with them when they’re travelling. The IdeaPad is a slightly less business oriented version of the ThinkPad, and better for casual users.

The ASUS Eee PC 1215B

The reason that this ASUS model ranks so highly on the best seller list is probably due to budget. It’s light and portable, and is pretty much average in every other way, although more than functional. But it’s cheap, and in the netbook market, cheap is good, particularly since so many people tend to buy netbooks as second computers.

The HP Mini 5103

Two things mark out the HP Mini. It has awesome video functions (and an HD screen), and it has great security. But the display is a little small, even though it’s shiny HD. Still, it ranks at number four on the best seller list.

The Acer Aspire One 522-BZ897

Okay, the Acer doesn’t have great processing power or speeds. But it does have a fantastic battery life, and its multimedia capabilities are top class. Plus, it extremely attractively priced.

The Samsung NC110

This Samsung looks incredible, and has one of the most comfortable keyboards we’ve seen on a netbook. You do need to get rid of some of the pre-installed, useless software, but once you’ve done that, it’s fast too. In fact, were it not for the relatively high price tag, it would probably rank much higher on this list.

The Toshiba Mini NB505-N508GN

This is really a very typical netbook. It’s not fast, though it does have some nice screen resolution. Its big selling point is its great battery life, which can be great for travellers, who tend to be away from electrical sockets for a while.

Auther

Phil Turner has watched how the iPad 3g and other tablets have decimated the market for small, cheap netbooks. The seed of change is certainly accelerating.
