There are just two weeks to go to EduWeek with SABC Education powered by Intel and this decade old event promises to once again deliver the most comprehensive education opportunity on the continent. Taking place from the 29th to the 30th June at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, Johannesburg, EduWeek is all about advancing educational knowledge in Africa and responding directly to the needs and expectations of the industry.
Eduweek with SABC Education powered by Intel 2016 will give visitors even more opportunities to learn from world renowned industry experts as well as local best practises. This year boasts over 200 hours of solution driven content in the conference sessions and international speakers from around the world including the USA, United Kingdom and Ghana. EduWeek will offer five tracks of dedicated solution driven content in Early Childhood Development, Basic education, Higher education, Inclusive education and E-TECH (educational technology) all at no charge. Whether you are a primary school maths teacher or an assistant lecturer, you can expect to walk away with practical take homes that will improve your institutions functionality, as well as learn the best ways to connect with your students and drive positive results. Early Childhood Development (ECD):
African education has to ensure that every young child has the opportunity to attend a quality early learning programme before entering the formal school system. This will result in dramatic changes in education and in the development of our country. The early childhood development track aims to look at key issues affecting ECD such as generating and upgrading more ECD centres and out of centre based programmes, whilst offering ECD professionals practical take homes to generate positive change. If you are currently involved in ECD sector in any way shape or form, this track will equip you with the skills to better your institution, staff and general functionality.
Basic:
Basic education plays a pivotal role in the development of every child. This year’s track will look at several issues affecting basic education, as well as offer you an opportunity to learn from best practises and wold renowned speakers. Learn how to improve your daily functionality while promoting positive change in the classroom.
Higher:
Higher education has become a topical issue for many. This track will discuss key issues affecting higher education such as the FeesMustFall movement and security in Higher education institutions. Learn how the latest developments in higher education have a direct impact on you and your work whilst learning about practical take homes that will improve your everyday efficiency and productivity.
Inclusive:
Inclusive education acknowledges that all children can learn and that all pupils, including many considered to be non-disabled, need some form of support in learning during their time at school. It is essential that every school educator identifies various learning barriers within the classroom by creating an enabling environment that is inclusive of all learners’ difficulties. Various learning obstacles need to be addressed and removed in order to start the process of inclusion. Learn about how to make your school an inclusive one whilst addressing various learning barriers that can exclude many students from performing in the classroom.
E-tech:
With a digitalised world comes digitalised learning. This track will look at some of the latest innovations in edtech, whilst offering you practical take homes and advise that will best suite your institutions specific needs and wants. Learn from industry experts on how to implement technological solutions that will aid the teacher process.
Higher education:

This session will discuss how training and educational institutions, coupled with job readiness and matching programmes, can help youth tap these “latent” jobs and how Harambee is working with the City of Johannesburg to increase economic opportunities for South Africa’s young job seekers.
