Proxima Nova font family has been so popular font face in 1990s, which is a complete reworking of Proxima Sans (1994). It comes with original six fonts (three weights with italics) further have been evolved and expanded to 48 complete series of OpenType fonts. There are three widths: Proxima Nova, Proxima Nova Condensed, and Proxima Nova Extra Condensed. Each of those widths consists of seven weights with matching italics.

Proxima Nova is a rework of Proxima Sans as it was named because the font family is very nearly similar to Sans Serif. Proxima Nova in its design structure fills the gap between typefaces like Futura and Akzidenz Grotesk.

The result is a hybrid combining of humanistic proportions with something like geometric appearance. Proxima Nova as a complete font family contains total 8 weights: Thin, Light, Regular, Medium, Semibold, Bold, Extrabold, and Black, 3 widths: Normal, Condensed, and Extra Condensed and their matching italics, small caps for all weights and widths.



Proxima Nova also includes some important features like lining and old style figures, full “f” ligature set, alternate characters, automatic fractions, automatic ordinals, dingbats, extended language support, extended currency support and more.

These are all the final works of Proxima Nova font family which was an outcome of rework on Proxima Sans in 2005. The author received lots of request on working the existing typeface from renowned companies and thus Proxima Nova happened on the design world.

There are most popular styles of Proxima Nova font family based on properties (weights and widths) also design structure. Proxima Nova had only 42 fonts at the time of first release period (2005) and later it was expanded to different widths, weights and matching italics. Gotham is another popular font family which is widely used geometric sans-serif digital typefaces designed and developed by American type designer Tobias Frere-Jones in 2000. The letters used in Gotham to design its structure are inspired by a form of architecture signage that achieved popularity in mid-twentieth century, and especially popular based on New York City.



Gotham has a relatively broad design with a reasonable high x-height and wide apertures. From its creation Gotham, has been highly visible due to its appearance in many notable places.
