I have no idea how it happened, but Christmas is almost here! The last place I want to be at this time of year is a shopping mall. I prefer to avoid the crowds and support indie vegan businesses. By doing so, I help vegan companies stay in business, and I do a bit of  activism when I give a vegan gift to an omnivore. I’ve put together a list of my favorite gift ideas to make shopping easier for you this season.

Vegan Cuts Snack Box Gift Subscription – What could be better than having snacks delivered to your door each month? It’s like a mini Christmas each month when the box arrives, so your recipient will think of how thoughtful you are throughout the year. Three and six month gift subscriptions are available.

Vegan Cuts Beauty Box Gift Subscription – Like the Snack Box, the Beauty Box is delivered once a month, so a subscription is a gift that keeps on giving. The Beauty Box is chock full of new health and beauty care items that just about anyone will love. Three and six month gift subscriptions are available.

Meow Meow Tweet Holiday Gift Pack – Vegan Cuts recently sent me this gift set to review for Chic Vegan, and I loved it! The products are all natural and super luxurious. Vegan Cuts has other great gift sets like the New York for the Holidays Care Pack and the Vegan Cuts Pouch. Visit their Marketplace for more ideas.

Christy Robinson Designs Jewelry – Super cute message necklaces and bracelets are sure to please any lady on your list! (Check out  my interview with Christy on Chic Vegan too!)

Kitchen Gadgets I loooove opening presents to find shiny new kitchen gadgets inside! You can find something to fit just about any budget. If you don’t have too much to spend, a spiralizer or sprouter would make a good gift for a budding raw foodie. If money’s no object, a nice new Vitamix or dehydrator  would be welcome in any foodie’s kitchen.

Cookbooks 2013 was definitely the year of the vegan cookbook, so there’s definitely one that’s right for just about everyone on your list. Vegan Chocolate by Fran Costigan is a must-have for loved ones with a sweet tooth. Laura Theodore’s Jazzy Vegetarian Classics is perfect for new vegans or omnivores trying to eat healthier. Gift baskets with cookbooks are also great gifts. How about a copy of Julie Hasson’s Vegan Pizza packaged together with a pizza stone, a pizza cutter and a spatula? Or maybe Kathy Hester’s Vegan Slow Cooking for Two along with a small slow cooker?

Homemade Food Gifts Tins of cookies, bottles of flavored oils and jars of soup mix all make really great gifts, and you’ll be spreading some vegan joy by giving them. Joni Marie Newman’s book Vegan Food Gifts has lots of great ideas for, well… vegan food gifts. I made quite a lot of gifts from this book last year and the recipients loved everything. (The book itself also makes a great gift!)

An Animal Sponsorship Most animal sanctuary’s around the country offer animal sponsorships. Your recipient will receive photos and updates on his or her adopted animal and the money you donated goes to pay for food and care. Two of my favorite sanctuaries are Farm Sanctuary and Catskill Animal Sanctuary.

Herbivore Clothing – Herbivore is an indie vegan store in Portland, and I was super excited about being able to visit in person when I went to Vida Vegan Con earlier in the year. They have their own really cute and creative message t-shirts that will suit any activist. They also sell their own jewelry, stickers and buttons, along with bags, belts and wallets.

Health Coaching or Cooking Class Gift Certificates And now it’s time for my shameless plug. I’m offering gift certificates for my health coaching programs and personalized cooking lessons. Is someone in your life trying to go vegan but needs a little guidance? My Four Week Jump Start program would be perfect! Do you know a vegan who needs some inspiration in the kitchen? I can help! Gift certificates for my programs are 20% off from now until December 24th.
