SAUSALITO – After 10 years in sales, Nadine Greenwood was looking for a simple change of pace, but what she ended up with was a total professional overhaul. “I had been selling naturopathic products for a decade, and I needed a change,” she remembers. “A friend of mine had started flipping houses, so I offered to help him with designing the restored properties. I really enjoyed it, and after some time, I decided to get my real estate license so I could start selling the homes he was putting on the market. That was my door into the real estate industry, and it continued to progress from there.”

After achieving success in the Marin County real estate scene, Nadine took things to the next level by turning her greatest competitor into her partner. “Camara Scremin and I were competitors in the Sausalito area, but we liked each other and would often sell each other’s listings,” she explains. “After a while, we figured we might as well team up. It has been great ever since. I couldn’t ask for a better business partner than Camara.”

Today, Nadine says her favorite part of her job is the opportunity to impact her clients’ lives. “I love the fact that I get to touch people’s lives with my work. Whether it’s helping a family buy their first home or helping a seller get a good price for their listing, it’s very rewarding to be part of that life transition.”

Originally from France, Nadine came to the United States on vacation, not realizing it would be a permanent one. “I liked it so much that I decided to stay for a year, take some college courses and see how things went…and I never went back!” Nearly three decades later, now a resident of San Rafael, Nadine has no regrets about her decision. “This is my home. I love the U.S., I love California and I think it’s a very special place to live.”

Outside of work, Nadine maintains a variety of interests, from outdoor activities like running and mountain biking to artistic pursuits like painting and music. She also likes to travel, whether to national parks like Yellowstone or back to France to visit her family. Most of all, Nadine says she enjoys partaking in the vibrant array of culture to be found in the Bay Area. “I enjoy it all, from sports events to art shows and lectures. We really have everything here, so I make it a point to take advantage of that.”

In regard to her professional career, Nadine espouses the importance of integrity. “Integrity is very important to me, more so than money,” she says. “If I meet with a client and feel we aren’t a good match, or if I sense they aren’t in a good position to buy or sell, I have no problem walking away. Operating with integrity allows me to sleep well at night, and that’s the way I want to live my life.”

When asked what her life might look like if she were to retire tomorrow, Nadine says she’d broaden her scholastic horizons. “I would go back to school. I didn’t have a chance to go to university, and that’s something I’ve always wanted to do. I’m not sure what I would study—probably philosophy, religion or business. There’s just so much to learn and do in life. I don’t know how people can be bored!”
