WACO (CBSDFW.COM) – An Assistant Athletic Director for Baylor University has been arrested for allegedly attacking a journalist.

According to reports, 47-year-old Heath Nielsen was booked into the McLennan County Jail on Nov. 8, and charged with assault with bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor.

CBS Waco affiliate KWTX-TV reports that Nielsen, who is now free on bond, was arrested on a misdemeanor assault warrant from a November 5th incident where he grabbed sports reporter James McBride by the throat following Baylor’s 62-22 loss to TCU.

McBride, who works for ‘The Blaze News’ in Keller, was photographing a Baylor player after the game when, “Nielsen walked up to McBride on the right, grabbed McBride by the throat with his right hand, squeezed and pushed him away from the football player” according to the arrest warrant.

Neilsen claimed the reporter was “abusing his privileges,” according to the affidavit.

A 17-year employee with Baylor, Nielsen works directly with the Baylor Bears football program and is responsible for management of the public image of the program.
