Cool Thursdays tonight (4/28) at the Dallas Arboretum features The La Bamba (Tribute to Richie Valens). Also at the Arboretum in the month of May… the Rose Mary Haggar Rose Garden. More than 250 large flowering hybrid tea rose bushes are within this garden, which is accented by rose covered arches and seat walls to enjoy their fragrance and beauty.

This weekend, April 30 – May 1, 2016, the Artisans take center stage at Scarborough Renaissance Festival as they celebrate their amazing artisans and their unique wares during the third annual Artisans Showcase Weekend. There will be three Artisans’ Showcase Tents at the entrance to each of the three areas of the Festival (Crown Meadow, Pecan Grove and Holly Field) that will give visitors a preview of the vast array of exquisite one-of-a-kind and handmade artwork and crafts that can be found in the 200+ Scarborough shoppes. Go ahead. Step back in time to the 16th Century days of King Henry VIII. 23 stages of extraordinary non-stop entertainment, full combat jousting, Birds of Prey exhibitions, the Grande Parade, Renaissance rides, games of skills, plus mermaids, knighting ceremonies, a human chess match, over 150 costumed performers and so much more!

Eye of the Collector at the Perot Museum is happening now through September 5. In Eye of the Collector, the quirky, crafty, historical and fashionable objects of nine very different people come together to show that the recollections they have of their prized possessions are at least as valuable as the collections themselves.

Mayfest is this weekend in Fort Worth.(4/28-May 1).We are talking four days of live music, festival food, carnival rides, performing arts, pet adoptions, more than 60 Art and Gift Market vendors, free children’s activities, special attractions and so on. It is all happening on 33 acres in Fort Worth’s Trinity Park.

These guys sound so much like AC/DC…AC/DC had their lead singer, Darren Caperna try out for the band! This is as close to Bon Scott and Brian Johnson as we are going to get…so check out AC/DC tribute band ‘Back in Black’ at Gas Monkey Bar and Grill Friday night! (4/29)

The Texas Theater is getting in on the Texas Frightmare Weekend starting tonight (4/28) with “The Warriors” in 35mm w/ live Q/A with stars James Remar and Michael Beck. Then at 9:30pm, check out From Dusk Till Dawn. Friday 4/29/2016, they’ll have “Halloween” in 35mm. Saturday (4/30), you can take part in A Salute to Prince: Purple Rain in 35mm. There will be a dance party after.

Texas Frightmare Weekend kicks off Friday and runs through Sunday (4/29-5/1) at the Hyatt Regency DFW and I don’t have NEAR the time to list all the great things they have going on with this thing but I’ll try. Robert Englund, Nightmare on Elm Street, Film legend George A. Romero (Day of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead) KISS’ Peter Criss, James Remar of The Warriors, Lance Henriksen of Aliens/Pumpkinhead/The Right Stuff, Tony Todd of Candyman/The Crow/Final Destination, Rose McGowan, Matthew Lillard, David Arquette and Skeet Ulrich of Scream and other films, The cast of Halloween 2, The cast of Return of the Living dead… you get the idea. In addition to the celebs…Texas Frightmare Weekend hosts autograph signings, screenings, exclusive parties and horror memorabilia vendors from all over the country.

What Texas Frightmare Weekend is to horror, The Dallas International Guitar Festival is to awesome music. See your guitar gods do their thing this weekend (4/29-May 1) at Dallas Market Hall.
