DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – A man who trusted strangers to help in time of need was instead tossed off a bridge Wednesday night, Dallas Police said.
The man, who was not identified, was hitchhiking in Rowlett and picked up by two men in a van around 11 p.m..
When they got to a bridge on Lakeview Parkway over Lake Ray Hubbard, the van came to a stop and the two men yanked the rider out and tossed him over the side.
Because of the drought, there’s no water where the man landed, and he wound up stuck in mud and couldn’t get himself free. The man did have a phone and used it to cal 9-1-1.
Dallas Police and Dallas Fire-Rescue, which have oversight of the lake, arrived and eventually called for a hovercraft from Wylie to assist in getting the man out.
He refused to talk to us on camera about what happened.
He was taken away by police to be questioned, but was not hurt.
