According to the Texas State Comptroller’s Office, many companies are coming to the DFW area, offering North Texans an abundance of employment opportunities.
Banks and other financial services companies continue see the growth potential in Dallas.
In 2012, Minneapolis-based, MoneyGram International moved its global headquarters to a 46,000-square-foot facility in downtown Dallas and hired 150 employees.
UMB Bank will be occupying over 5,000 square feet at 2323 Ross Avenue in the Dallas Arts District by the end of 2015. BB&T Bank will be opening 11 branches in the Dallas/Fort Worth area by the end of the year. Capital One Bank, which has been in the Dallas market for a while, is expanding its branches in key growth areas in the metroplex.
Another financial institution, Frost Bank will open a new location, anchoring the future Trader Joe’s grocery store at Walnut Hill Lane and Central Expressway.
Speaking of Trader Joe’s, the small boutique grocery story, opened a new store in the heart of Greenville Avenue, with plans for more stores to open in other North Dallas neighborhoods within a year.
Trader Joe’s breaks ground this month at Walnut Hill Lane and Central Expressway. The Preston Hollow Village location will house the 14,000-square-foot grocery store as well as 46,000 square feet of offices and 61,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space.
Also in August, Whole Foods Market opened a 40,000 square foot grocery store at Beltline and the Dallas North Tollway.
Chicago-based Green Grocer opened a store on Greenville Avenue that focuses on locally-grown produce. Its approach as a market is to provide fresh produce that supports the local economy and decreases emissions of long-distance transportation.
In 2012, Central Market opened a new store at Preston and Royal Lane. All locations are looking to hire partners that have a passion for food and customer service.
Another place DFW job seekers can look at is the San Antonio-based USAA, which announced via Governor Rick Perry’s office, that it will be expanding its Plano location and has leased two buildings totaling 238,000 square feet. This expansion will create 680 jobs, which will be phased in through 2018.
