Hi Readathoners! This is Kate from Kate’s Book Nook. I am going to be with you for the rest of this wonderful ride! I’ve ben co-hosting this time slot for several years now. I love it. I love getting to know all of you. So let me tell you a bit about myself. I am 28 years old and live in Northern California. I am a lover of books from all genres (currently going through a legal thriller phase. And fantasy). I am also an avid cross stitcher, crocheter, and quilter (thank goodness for audiobooks that allow me to combine hobbies). And I also love the odd computer game or two. Civilization 6 came out on Friday. I pre-ordered it but have yet to play it because I’ve been wrapped up in Dewey. But I can’t wait to play it. lol. And now that you know some about me, I would love to get to know you. So leave a comment and tell me about yourself and your hobbies.
I want to take a moment and thank all of the wonderful people who have put aside some of their reading time and done some cheerleading today. You all are like a breath of fresh air. Just when one is beginning to get tired and weary and it seems like you might want to quit, you pop up with a word of encouragement. This is the first time that we haven’t had official cheerleaders and so we have all had to step up to the plate and do some cheer on our own. Thank you for taking a bit of your time and doing that today.
Genre Election
Anyone who has been around for the final hours knows that I love to do random facts of the hour every hour. Well this year, I have decided to mix things up a little bit. If you are alive and have access to the internet, it probably hasn’t escaped your notice that there is an election happening right now in America. But even if you haven’t noticed, I’m sure you’ve been involved in some kind of election at some point in your life (local or school election or church election, etc). So this year, during these last four hours, we are going to hold our own election. The contestants (16 of the top genres according to goodreads) are up for election on which genre is the preferred genre for readathoners. After each round of voting half of the contestants will continue to the next round and half will “drop out” of the election. I will tally the votes at quarter to the hour so I have time to make the next poll. I hope that you all enjoy this and don’t take it too seriously. It is all meant to be in good fun.
