This appliance has several key features that I absolutely adore. First of all, let’s talk about the delay setting. You can delay cooking for up to 15 hours. That’s amazing. I’ve never has an appliance that gave me such flexibility. Old-fashioned slow cookers that I’ve used have always been made to cook starting immediately. Now there’s no waiting, no overcooking, no dry food.
The capacity of this machine is tremendous. As you can see, I was easily able to fit a 4 pound roast in it along with the onions, seasonings, & a bit of liquid. The roast came out so tender & full of juice. It didn’t need slicing- it just fell apart. Nice!
Next, the Sauté-Then-Simmer™ function allows home cooks to sauté on high heat & have the appliance automatically switch over to simmer when you add liquid. That’s a professional-grade tool, in my opinion. I’ve never even heard of that feature, but, wow is that convenient. Truly, your meal can be a one pot supper.
Another of my favorite features is the large, easy-to-read controls. The push buttons are large & clearly marked. Digital, red numbers allow cooks to see how much time is left to cook. When I made the roast in it, I set it for 4 hours. I checked back & true to its word, each hour clicked off until the 1 hour mark. At that point, it switched to minutes & beeps when it’s done. Then, it turns itself to a ‘Keep Warm’ setting. Set it & forget it!
Now, for the one that just blew me away- you can make a cake in it. Yes, a cake! All you need is a regular box of cake mix. In fact, the manual comes with super-easy recipes for cupcakes & more. There seems to be no limit to what you can make. Risotto & even packaged meals can all be made in one appliance, without standing over a hot stove or grill.
To me, no matter how fabulous a product is, if clean-up is a pain, then I won’t use it. Thankfully, the Aroma Rice Cooker cleans easily, without greasy, sticky residue. Being that I hand wash my dishes, that was my ‘I-am-so-in-love’ moment with this machine.
