2014-03-11

2014 looks like a year where grooming brands relook at their ambassadors. Some of these choices are not quite conventional but while they’re surprising, they’re outstanding. Here are some of the latest announcements made this year:

Leighton Meester for Biotherm

French skincare brand named Leighton Meester as their new face.

Biotherm International General Manager Patrick Kullenberg said this about the new appointment: “Leighton Meester is a contemporary icon, a young star whose natural talent, energy and beauty, have made her the face of a generation.”

He continued: “She’s the perfect expression of Biotherm skincare’s essential values: fresh modernity and natural beauty. She was an obvious choice to represent our brand.”

The former Gossip Girl star who is probably best known for her role as Blair Waldorf said: “What I love about Biotherm is it’s always evolving and changing and becoming more modern. I think it’s empowering, I feel very lucky to be part of the brand.”

And we are loving this ad campaign featuring Meester:

Stephanie Seymour for Estee Lauder

Stephanie Seymour, who started her modelling career as a teenager, has been named the new face of Estee Lauder. Seymour’s mother, a longtime fan of Karen Graham, Estee Lauder’s spokesmodel, had told her daughter that she would one day model for the brand, and it looks like her dream had c0me true.

The former Victoria Secret’s angel said: “Whenever I heard they were looking for models, I would always cross my fingers and hope. For a model to work with Estée Lauder is the pinnacle of things. And to be a part of major brand, which is hiring models rather than actresses, is also huge.”

Regarding her first campaign, Jane Hertzmark Hudis, global brand president of Estée Lauder says the ads are “around a new elevated platform in the luxury beauty space, which is expected to be launched this fall.” She continued: “Stephanie represents modern women today in such a beautifully articulated way and she represents modern beauty and luxury to us. This campaign will speak to the beautiful complexity that makes her who she is.”

Hudis added that Seymour is an addition to the current spokesmodel beauty roster, which includes Carolyn Murphy and Constance Jablonski, and not a replacement for anyone.

Jessica Lange for Marc Jacobs Beauty

After serving as the “voice” of Marc Jacob’s Spring 2014 show, Jessica Lange is now named as the new face of Marc Jacobs Beauty.

The 64-year-old Oscar winner will be featured in Marc Jacob Beauty’s summer and fall print ad campaignsm and you can also look forward to a short campaign film starring her and directed by Jacobs, to stream online on 5 May.

Charlotte Rampling for NARS

68-year-old British actress Charlotte Rampling has been named the new face of NARS cosmetics. The new ambassador will appear in a ‘black-and-white portrait-style image,’ for the brand’s 20th anniversary.

Rampling has been chosen for the campaign because she is a longtime muse of NARS founder, Francois Nars.

Francois Nars said that Rampling is “a natural beauty that feels strong, yet relatable… [her] ability of transformation is unparalleled.

‘Whether captured in pieces of artwork, through the lens of a magazine photographer or on film and the big screen, she had an amazing power to encompass a character.”

The ads, which have been shot by Nars himself, will appear in an assortment of fashion magazines.

Jessica Alba for Braun

Braun revealed Jessica Alba as its new Beauty Brand Ambassador. The Golden Globe-nominated actress will be featured in Braun’s new integrated campaign which will run across TV, print and online channels as well as in-store, from March 2014.

“Jessica Alba is a strong, passionate woman and an advocate for others – she is the perfect ambassador to talk about the role beauty and our products play in helping women to feel their best. Braun admires her for her principles, her talents and her ability to juggle a demanding acting career with being a great Mum,” said Alessandra Dolfini, Global Braun Marketing Director.
