Hi, I've posted a query on community forums (https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:HTML_in_wikitext) but I know from personal experience that queries of this nature generally trigger more active responses here I thought I'd mention it here, if that is OK. What I want is a Jmol widget (see http://wiki.jmol.org/index.php/Jmol_PHP for details) on my Wiki. I know I cannot host Java (.jar) applets on my Wiki (which I was told by Wikia staff) due to security risks and limitations in the MediaWiki software, but I'd like to know if this extends to Java widgets like this Jmol widget. The widget isn't hosted locally on Wikia, but is hosted by servers @ St. Olaf College, so I don't foresee any security risks. It requires the HTML tags <a> or <script> which I don't think MediaWiki can use (as it isn't mentioned here https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:HTML_in_wikitext) but I'm hoping there's some way around this for Wikia.<ac_metadata title="Jmol widget"> </ac_metadata>
