There really isn’t much to say about Hawaii than we’ve already said on numerous occasions. To say that it’s a heaven on Earth would be obsolete, since we’ve already used the term more times than we’re willing to count. But, Hawaii IS a place that has a really unique spell and if you’re not careful, it will seduce you and make you want to never go back home. A part of that spell are certainly the beaches of Hawaii’s 7 populated islands, so we have taken it upon ourselves to choose the top 10 of those sandy sanctuaries. Whichever one you choose, you’ll be in for a remarkable and unforgettable experience.

Place #10: Papohaku Beach, Molokai

Located on the west end of the island of Molokai, Papohaku Beach is one of those places you’ve often dreamed about, but had no idea where to start looking for it once you woke up. We’re here to tell you that the island of Molokai, conveniently located between Maui and Oahu, is the place you’ve been dreaming about. Completely empty and consisting of miles and miles of impeccable white sand, Papohaku Beach offers surfing, body boarding, bodysurfing, snorkeling and swimming. The sound of the waves and the serenity of the relatively empty beach are seldom decorated by soaring sea birds and skittering crabs. Other than them, you’ll pretty much have the place to yourself.

Place #9: Ke’e Beach Park, Kauai

Basking in the shade of guava, ti, coconut palms and ironwood trees, while being intoxicated not by mai tai’s, but by the almost surreal sunsets is what you can expect to enjoy at Kauai’s Ke’e Beach Park. The North Shore of Kauai is where you’ll be able to find this amazing place, just between Limahuli Stream and the notorious Na Pali Coast. When it comes to recreation, we should probably mention a well known fact: if you’re into snorkeling, you’ll definitely have a lot of fun at Ke’e Beach’s reef lagoon, which is a favorite of both the locals and the visitors. Exploring the lagoon guarantees numerous encounters with turtles and many species of colorful reef fish.

Place #8: Malaekahana Bay, Oahu

Out of a number of beaches we’ve looked at, this particular one has, in our humble opinion, the best combination of several features. When it comes to whole families, this beach, located near the North Shore of Oahu, is exceptionally family-friendly, which is to say it provides a great picnic setting, courtesy of ample shade. Additionally, Malaekahana also possesses diverse camping sites, covering everything from yurts, eco-cabins and small duplex houses to areas for pitching a tent. Kayaking, windsurfing, fishing, surfing and swimming are all available, in addition to a great number of other fun activities.

Place #7: Hapuna Beach, Big Island

When it comes to deep, clean sand and large size, the Kohala Coast’s Hapuna Beach has no equal. Snorkeling, swimming and bodysurfing are ideal recreational activities, as the locals say, anywhere from May to September. On the other hand, if you want to feel bold and try your luck in more dangerous conditions, we urge you to use extreme caution during your visit to this amazing place between October and April. During this period, strong rip currents lurk just off the shore and the beach suffers massive pounding by the surf. One of the particularly interesting features of Hapuna Beach is the fact that, unlike many other Hawaii Beaches, it doesn’t offer much shade. So, make sure you bring plenty of sunscreen, as well as a hat and sunglasses.

Place #6: Hookena Beach Park

If you want family quality time, this is the place you want to check out. Featuring plenty of shade, abundant picnic tables, showers and restrooms, the small park at Hookena is where all the locals hang out, complete with their entire families. If you want to break up the family picnic, you can try renting out some snorkeling gear or a kayak and have plenty of fun in (or on) the water. The combination of white and fine grey coral sand adds a note of specialness to this particular beach, and spotting turtles or even dolphins is almost a regular occurrence. This historical site is known mostly for being the location of one of the very last fishing villages in all of Hawaii, which is another great reason why you should definitely check it out.

Place #5: Poipu Beach Park, Kauai

We’ll start this one off by simply listing all the fun stuff you can try out here. They include ATV tours, mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, swimming, surfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking etc. The South Shore of Kauai is where you’ll find the Poipu Beach Park, and when you do – it shouldn’t come as a surprise at all that this awesome place literally has something to offer to even the pickiest members of your fellowship!

If you’re into photography at all, you’ll simply love Lanikai Beach. On the other hand, you’ll feel the same way if you’re into swimming. The main reason for your imminent crush is the breathtaking beauty of Lanikai, mirrored in its swaying coconut trees, wide and clean beaches and crystal clear waters. Ideal swimming conditions exist thanks to an offshore reef, which shelters sparkling turquoise waters. Literally translated as “heavenly sea”, Lanikai Beach definitely lives up to its ancient name.

Place #3: Hulopoe Beach, Lanai

Located at the very head of Hulopoe Bay, the Hulopoe Beach Park is today an impeccable and characteristic “pocket” beach. Lanai has always been known as a rather secluded destination for all those interested in its charms, but the Dole Company had grown pineapples here for decades, which resulted in its nickname “Pineapple Island” at one time. If you’re planning a romantic and intimate vacation for yourself and your chosen one, you’ve just found the ideal location.

If you happen to be on the market for spoiling yourself and the ones you love with sheer luxury, Maui’s Kaanapali Beach is the place you want to visit. Exclusive resorts, spas and posh hotels are waiting for you in the purpose of putting on quite a show. And when we say show, we don’t mean that solely in terms of entertainment. Experiencing luxury has a whole new meaning when done in Hawaii; relaxing in a beach cabana or going for a lomi-lomi massage are great testaments to that.

Place #1 On Our 10 First Class Beaches In Hawaii List: Kauna ‘oa Beach, The Big Island

The main reason why we feel this particular beach is unsurpassed is simply – serenity and solitude. As much as we like crowds and hanging out with different people, getting some alone time can often be tricky, especially when you’re on vacation in such a popular place as Hawaii. So, this particular and very private beach that happens to have a 25-person limit at any time is the perfect solution! Offering quite literally an image of the Gates of Eden, this beach shaped like a crescent simply provides everything you may require – the looks, the peace and quiet and the maximum pleasure. Although, you might want to get up early, since it’s usually full by 9 a.m..
