The VersaGateway controller is an enhanced communications controller for translating between various protocols and enabling Cloud Communications with the Divelbiss VersaCloud M2M platform. Programmed using the EZ Ladder Toolkit in Ladder Diagram, Function Block and Structured Text, and based on P-Series PLC on a Chip technology, the controller delivers flexibility when translating between different serial bus protocols, logging system data to the full size SD card, or adding IoT capability to existing systems.

The controller supports communications through several ports. Two serial ports are user configurable as RS232 or RS485, and support MODBUS RTU/ASCII protocols as either a Master or Slave device. The serial ports are also directly programmable through the Structured Text programming language, allowing the implementation of custom protocols suitable for communicating to bar code scanners, RFID readers or other serial devices.

Two CAN ports are available, one of which is isolated and configurable for NMEA2000 bus power. Both CAN ports support the SAE 1939 and NMEA2000 protocols. Ethernet and WiFi ports can be used for MODBUS TCP Server and Client communications, as well as IoT communications with the VersaCloud M2M platform. The VersaGateway has optional cellular capability for communicating with the VersaCloud M2M platform. A GPS option is also available.

For applications that require data logging, the controller has a real-time clock, 512 K of battery backed SRAM, and a full size SD card. These features give the user ultimate flexibility and options for implementing data buffering and logging. When used with the VersaCloud M2M platform, the controller can communicate data to VersaCloud, where it is date/time stamped and stored in the Cloud database for later viewing, analysis and export. The controller supports supply voltages from 9 to 32 Vdc and has an operating temperature range of -40 to 80° C, for use in applications with extreme environmental requirements.
