Lately I’ve been looking into the web design area and at what the market had to offer in order to meet demands. Since the interest in site-making is growing, more and more developers are striving to make it available for everyone. We have many options to choose from today, a lot of which require no coding skills, but I cut my choices to the best two.
These two themes are versatile enough to give your site, blog or e-commerce store a unique and personalized look with maximum functionality.
Divi 2.0
In late 2013 Elegant Themes introduced Divi to the world. It quickly began to make a name for itself considering the fact that, in many ways, it seems to be the only theme to actually be easy to use and elegant and professional at the same time.
With it you can create modern web design examples like the ones that are awarded in CSS galleries.
Its interface, named Divi builder, has a unique approach to building websites, separating the dashboard into layers. In the first version they focused on the functionality of the page. The 2.0 version will come with a few extra features: enhanced header, navigation and layout options to name a few.
Even though it’s easy to use, the complexity of the elements and options is what makes it attractive to whoever wants to create websites as modern, attractive and dynamic as possible.
The main customization tool Divi offers is the module. Modules are similar to the widgets found in WordPress, and act pretty much the same way, but are way more dynamic and customizable.
Modifying and customizing modules is as easy as it can be. They can be added or dismissed, and customizing them requires nothing more than dragging and dropping, the layouts available being varied enough to suit all tastes.
In this sense, it comes with 10 pre-made layouts, which you can use as standard or modify with ease, or if you prefer, you can do everything from ground zero. Divi’s layouts are compatible with all types of devices.
Also, there are a lot more features that are available with Divi 2.0 which you should see for yourself. They are amazing and I’m glad these guys thought of implementing them. They saved a lot of time for everybody by making these available.
I don’t find it to be pricey either. For $69 you get full updates, technical support and a bonus of 87 preset themes.
Salient
Salient is a beautiful theme. Very appealing, responsive and it’s a very good choice for those interested in e-commerce and freelancing, hence it supports the Woo Commerce add-on. It is retina ready, and comes packed with the Parallax home slider, which is a rare feature, since most of the plugins for a slider don’t work properly.
Another interesting thing about Salient is that it makes itself available to even those who don’t speak English. Its language pack is varied enough to assure its availability to almost everybody.
Salient’s layouts are as compatible to all sorts of devices as Divi’s, but they are fewer (8 in number), and customization includes some shortcode, but tutorials are very professional.
Overall it is a very good looking theme, very catchy and responsive. For $55 you get one preset theme (unfortunately) but above average customer support service.
Conclusion
So far these two themes are the best of what I’ve seen one the market. They’re both stable, responsive and good-looking, able to build the best of sites, blogs, e-commerce stores, etc. But Divi’s builder it’s what sets it apart, being as easy to use and at the same time very efficient.
