2014-02-03

Hi everyone, Mou here and welcome to the second 'Take the Challenge' of 2014!

If you are new to this blog, let me fill you in about Take the Challenge. Every month, on the first Monday, I'll post a challenge and my take on it. You'll have 12 days to take this on. Leave a comment to the challenge post with a link to your creation based on that challenge. The following Monday, we will pick TWO winners randomly from among the readers who participated in that month's challenge. And the winners will get a prize from Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft®.

It's February! Valentine's Day is right around the corner. Your challenge this month is absolutely simple...create any project related to Valentine's Day.

Here's my take.

To make this card I used the following Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® products:

Art GRIP Aquarelle watercolor pencils: 108,11,115 (Yellow) and 124, 126, 133 (Red)

Gelatos®: Metallic Mint

Gelatos Tool set

Gesso

Paper Crafter Crayons: White (NEUTRAL pack)

PITT Artist pens: BLACK

Other products: cardstock, patterned paper, diecut, vellum, adhesive, lace trim, sewing machine, scissors

Let me walk you through the steps of how I made my card

I folded cardstock to make a 5.5" x 4.25" card. I cut some textured patterned paper to 5" x 3.5" and attached it to the card. Next, I applied some Gesso with palette knife from the Gelatos Tool set.

Once the Gesso dried, I rubbed some Metallic Mint Gelato® and blended it with wet brush.

I stitched a piece of lace trim to the card.

I dotted a themed diecut with white Paper Crafter Crayon to create a resist design.

Next, I colored the diecut with Art GRIP watercolor pencils, blended the colors with wet brush to reveal the dot design.

I attached the diecut to the card with foam tape and added a strip of heart print foiled vellum to the right, tucking it under the right edge of the patterned paper. Finally, I wrote the sentiment 'Be Mine' with PITT Artist pens on a piece of pink cardstock, cut a heart around it, and attached it to the card with foam tape.

Here's a close-up.
