Cambria, Luxe Interiors + Design magazine and Jiun Ho at Dennis Miller NY Sponsor Designer Objects

Designer’s continuously explore their palette of materials in an effort to express their ideas. With the recent trend toward monolithic design and a preference for stone, it was a natural fit for Cambria, the family-owned producer of natural quartz surfaces, to team up with top designers to test the limits of the material. As part of the New York Design Center’s, “What’s New What’s Next”, Cambria, Luxe Interiors + Design magazine and Jiun Ho at Dennis Miller NY sponsored the 2016 DESIGN INNOVATION OBJECT event. The event, which was held September 22, 2016 featured the designs of Jiun Ho, Carl D’Aquino, Francine Monaco, Benjamin Cruz, Lisa Kanning, and Bennett Leifer. Each designer was challenged to create an innovative object using Cambria stone. Two of the objects were auctioned off that evening benefiting The Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. The remaining three objects will be traveling across North America with Cambria.

Marion Table by Benjamin Cruz
This narrow accent table features alluring Galloway™ perforated with hexagons on all three sides in a casual, flowing pattern. An accent bar wrapped in Moore & Giles leather adds an intriguing visual and textural contrast. The Marion Table is intended to serve as an accent table positioned between two club chairs, with the nonporous quartz tabletop providing an ideal surface for a cocktail and hor d’oeuvres plate.

Kristina Table by Bennett Leifer
The Kristina Table, designed for use as an occasional table, features a delicate glass top perched above a structured base composed of six layers of distinct Cambria designs (Whitney™, Templeton™, Seagrove™, Carrick™, Parys™ and Fieldstone™) with an outer wrap of crisp White Cliff™. The glass tabletop allows the viewer to look “into” the depth of the base itself to observe its dramatic sculptural curves and the varied tones and textures of the Cambria layers. The Kristina Table was inspired by the beauty of Antelope Canyon in Arizona, and the playful contrast Leifer noted between the rigidity of natural stone and the fluidity of the soft lines of a desert canyon.

Si02 Candelabra by D’AquinoMonaco Inc.
The Si02 Candelabra combines elegant, marbled Brittanicca™ and select surfaces of polished brass, creating a bold and sophisticated mix of materials. Perfect for an iconic centerpiece, the piece serves as an interpretation of natural quartz clusters, with sharp architectural lines and multi-faceted forms of the sculptural candle holders nesting to create a single figure, held together by their shared form.

Calama Lounger, Salta Table and Geisel Lamp by Jiun Ho
This modern three-piece furniture collection includes a Blackwood™ and Galloway™ lounger set, a Princetown™ side table and a Swanbridge™, New Brighton™ and Blackwood™ floor lamp. The collection was inspired by Brutalist architecture and the natural world, serving as an expression of the similarities found in geological formations and the Brutalist style. The contemporary furnishings feature smooth, captivating planes of natural quartz combined with the rough aggregate used in concrete construction, achieving an eye-catching balance of imposing forces.
Telluride Candle Holder by Lisa Kanning
Nine thin, intricate layers of velvety brown Hazelford™ are stacked and rotated clockwise from the previous layer in irregular curved patterns, achieving the rugged feel of natural cliffs. Inspired by the stepped mountain cliffs of the majestic Rockies in Telluride, Colorado, this asymmetrical, layered candle holder is designed to bring an organic, natural feel to any space it inhabits.
