THE SHOW
If last year’s Architectural Digest Design Show (AD Design Show) is any indication of this year’s, than designers are in for a real treat. The 15th annual show, which takes place at Pier 92 and 94 in New York City, is organized by Architectural Digest magazine and occurs March 17-20, 2016 (open to the general public March 18-20, 2016 and Press, Design Trade, and VIP Ticket Holders on the 17th). The show is packed with daily events presented by Architectural Digest and curated by the New York Times and presents over 400 brands. In the adjacent pier is the Dining by Design vignettes created by well known designers with proceeds benefiting the HIV/AIDS organization DIFFA. The two shows are always a bright spot in New York’s design calendar and DLN was given a special sneak peek at a few of the companies showing this year.

With over 70 new vendors exhibiting at the AD SHOW, here is a sneak peek of just some of the buzz worthy ones.
Casa Kids’ King Size Loft Bed and Storage Unit
KIDDING AROUND
Brooklyn-based design studio, Casa Kids Collection is launching a new line of space-saving lofts for adults. The units are much more than just beds, comprising loads of storage and cabinetry space, as well as desks and daybeds in order to address the needs now inherent in modern urban living.
This collection of king and queen size loft beds is an excellent alternative to the Murphy bed, as it utilizes the space below, dramatically adding to the functionality of a small living area. All models are customizable, allowing the user to choose the configuration below the bed that best suits his or her needs.
Ronbow’s Pebble collection by Ora Ito (France)
ROCK STARS
Ronbow debuts its Signature Series which bringing together some of the world most innovative artists. The line consists of 11 collections designed by nine top European designers including: Danelon Meroni (UK), Ramon Esteve (Spain), Ora Ito (France), Kurz Kurz Design (Germany), Joan Lao (Spain), Phoenix Design (Germany), Pininfarina (Italy), Matteo Thun (Italy) and Alexander Zhukovsky (Russia).
Kimberly Markel’s Glow collection
UP-CYCLED
Kimberly Markel will be releasing the Glow collection, a line of furniture hand crafted from recycled plastics. The line will include chairs, side tables, mirror, vanity set, and vessels. The collection aims to elevate recycled plastics into a material that is organic, translucent and effervescent.
Thick Chair by Godar Furniture
IN THE THICK OF IT
Godar Furniture designs and builds original wood furniture in San Francisco. Godar will be launching several new products or exhibiting them for the first time.

Resuscitating older houses has become a way of life for this design≠ focused couple. The lively discussion will cover how they make a space feel true to its design origins, reflective of their contemporary, art-driven tastes, and suitable for their young family. Theyí ll also focus on the research and dedication that goes into their meticulous process, especially their extensive work on Lasata, the childhood summer retreat of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, featured in the April issue of Architectural Digest. Designers reveal how they maintain good relationships with their client’s from start to finish. Featuring some of the biggest names in the industry, the discussion will cover how to approach the client interview process, interpret a client’s wants and needs, decide when it’s appropriate to send an associate to a meeting, and the best way to present your final design vision. Once the job is complete, there are still factors to consider, such as how to handle the big reveal and what home/maintenance services should be offered. As hotel design throughout the world becomes more sophisticated, homeowners are looking to incorporate many of those style elements into their personal spaces. At the same time, hotel designers are being asked to create rooms that reflect idealized homelike environments.
