I thought about what I would personally love in a class and explored a lot of the design questions I've received over the years. The amazing team at Big Picture is so encouraging and supportive in making ideas come to life. Many of the things on my wish list are included in the final product:
VIDEOS. I'm a visual person so I prefer videos for web-based instruction and information. This class has more than twenty. Yes--more than twenty!
INVITE FRIENDS. There are some insanely talented people in this industry. I'm just as curious as anyone else about how they come up with their ideas, how they work. Throughout the class we're joined by these creative friends. I've recorded video chat discussions and asked them to give tours of their work. Truly fascinating.
COMMUNITY. As I filmed things for class, I can't tell you how many times I wish you could talk back to me through the screen! Our next best option is a positive, encouraging class message board that I hope will open up many discussions, a place to share ideas and get to know each other. We'll be doing a bunch of challenges and sharing in the class gallery too!
HANDOUTS TO INSPIRE. I'm a former journalist and magazine junkie, so I've combined my professional and personal passion for print into keepsake handouts chock full of inspirational quotes, app suggestions, and additional design advice.

I'll take you through several projects from concept to completed product, even photographing layouts to share with friends online.
DIGITAL DESIGNS: Every student who registers will receive this set of digital stamps and cut files from Studio Calico. I worked closely with the designers on these and I adore the results! Here's a peek at one of the brushes. You'll get a tutorial on how to load the brushes, recolor, resize and play with them. We'll also explore working with die cuts.
